2015 Lincoln Navigator Teased Before Debut Tomorrow

*Update: Reportedly, unveiling has been pushed back to Chicago in a few weeks*

During the process of analyzing the market and the products to come due to the requirements of CAFE legislation, the Lincoln Navigator narrowly missed the copping block as Ford looked how they would comply with the new law. During this process, mid-cycle enhancements planned for both the Navigator and its twin, the Ford Expedition, were put on hold. In the end, Ford decided to keep the nameplates alive by merging their future development into the development of the all-new F-150. However, these all-new full-size SUVs will not arrive for another two years. The solution: launch the facelifts to give a spark of life to the models until the all-new, aluminum extensive versions are ready. Two teasers have now been released showing grill details for the new Lincoln Navigator, which will be officially unveiled tomorrow.

The teasers show that the 2015 model will gain the bow-wave grill, which debuted on the second generation MkZ and further on the 2015 MkC. The Navigator's grill, however, is less curved in the edges than the other models. This is likely due to trying to match the grill to the boxy exterior. Overall the shape of the grill gives a feeling of the Mexico-only Lincoln Mark LT. The headlights show LED-strip detailing, as does the running lights. The hood appears to have lost the so called "power dome" design cue in favor a more flattened design.

Do not expect any changes to the side profile as this was a rather last-ditch facelift until the all-new model. The taillights and tailgate have said to gone through some design changes as well, but we will have to wait until tomorrow or another leak to see the design.

The interior also is expected to receive a thorough remodeling, but again, no pictures have been released at this time.

The bigger news will be the expected new powertrain(s) coming under the hood. Expect the old 5.4L V8 Triton to bite the dust in favor of the 3.5L V6 EcoBoost and possibly another engine.

Stay tuned tomorrow for further details and pictures of the 2015 Navigator.

That is what I saw today, but dam if that is not an ugly angle. Close the hood first. Or is that closed?

confused

Every sub-$50,000 car on the market will have to answer to the Ford from now on, no matter what badge it brings to the table.

I had seen no indication that the Nav was to be shown off tomorrow. Surprise!

Hmmm... well, it is eye-catching if nothing else! Considering there apparently weren't many changes to the body, they couldn't go too swoopy with the front on such a boxy vehicle, so this might be not too bad once fully revealed. I'm staying optimistic!

It does look like an F-150 with the Lincoln grill, except for the bottom part.

As facelifts go, I've seen worse.

Re: 2015 Lincoln Navigator Teased Before Debut Tomorrow

I thought they were going to use a more round front like the MKC, I think they had to do something with the front, this looks just like a last time job...................is there any time to redesign it until tomorrow?? hahaha

MKC front-end on mega-steroids.

Need to see the front 3/4 view to get a better idea of this.
