Ford US November 2012 Sales Rise 6 Percent; Retail Sales Up 12 Percent

Ford Sets New Hybrid Monthly Sales Volume Record
http://www.fordinsidenews.com
December 3, 2012

Having a dedicated hybrid is so far making a killing for the Ford Motor Company. Sales of electrified vehicles for the company came to their highest level of any month thanks mostly to the all-new C-Max hybrid and Energi. Overall sales in November rose 6-%, while retail sales rose 12-%.

As with electrified vehicles, the C-Max helped Ford score a 12 year high is small cars. The Ford Focus and Fiesta also saw gains during the month even as the latter nears its switchover. The last time small car sales were this high, the Focus Mk1 had launched with "old Ford" heavy rental sales.

F-Series sales hit a 7 year for the month as the truck rose 18 percent. Hurting overall sales was of course the ending of production of the Ranger. All other "truck" models saw gains however, overriding the loss.

Ford Fusion sales are recovering following the switchover to the all-new model. Many dealers did simply not have the inventory during November.

Lincoln sales fell as dealers wait for the all-new MkZ to start sales in December as the brand's first true effort to "re-launch" itself in the North American market. Ford also announced today the official advertising launch for the brand with the naming becoming "Lincoln Motor Company." As part of this, Lincoln also entered Twitter under @LincolnMotorCo.

Great overall results - over at Government Motors the results are particularly scary. Truck sales are tanking - overall bread and butter volume models are tanking as well. Only growth is from adding new nameplates, not from the existing models. And in some cases, new models are stealing sales from existing nameplates - not good for profit when your lower price model is stealing sales from your higher profit, higher priced model.

Ford F-Series outsold the Silverado, Sierra, Tundra, Titan and Colorado, Canyon, Ridgeline combined in November...and had 893 units left over.

When you take the dead Town Car sales out of Lincoln's totals, the brand actually went up 8% with their current products versus last year.

Or if you look at it the other way, if they had continued to improve the Town Car, and kept it in the lineup, TOTAL sales may have increased more than 8%

Thanks for posting these tables. Provided there are no major mechanical issues with the C-Max hybrid, I think the vehicle has the potential to be a huge and enduring success for Ford. Much like Prius has been for Toyota.
