Re: 2018 Ford F-150 debuts with fresh face, diesel power

I hope your comment on huge gains in torque hold to be true. Offering the 10 spd with the 5.0 just kept me in a Ford truck. It would be nice to see the 5.0 trump GM's 420 hp 6.2! Hopefully Ford will see fit to offer factory dual exhaust with the 5.0 and match Ram. Since the Ram redesign in 2009, in my area 85% of Ram 1500 have factory duals, so a lot of people must like the looks and sound of a V8 with duals. Around 40% have the twin scoop hood as well. Maybe Ford will offer something similar to the Shelby hood as well. Anyway a lot better info than last fall with the intro of the 2017!

I wonder if the new 3.3 V6 will replace the 3.7 in the Continental in a year or two.

Mustang isnt being shown. Chris Doane Automotive LLC posted on Facebook "There's a private event scheduled for Tuesday in Dearborn where, apparently, Ford will show the facelifted Mustang to members of the media. Everything shown at this event will be embargoed. So if the Mustang is there, it certainly won't be at NAIAS"

Expedition will be there. Also curious what else is going on, I got an invite to a live stream from them tomorrow at 9am ET and the name of it is The City of Tomorrow.

It should come darn close, if not match hp. But it won't surpass 6.2L big torque. The healthy bump in torque I speak of mostly comes from higher CR, allowed through DI.

I have see the numbers for Mustang, but not truck, but if I were to guess hard numbers for truck,

hp = 415 (was 385)
Tq = 420 (was 387)
maginty, Extreme4x4, jpd80 and 3 others like this.

=======================

Every sub-$50,000 car on the market will have to answer to the Ford from now on, no matter what badge it brings to the table.

Re: 2018 Ford F-150 debuts with fresh face, diesel power

Trying to get caught up on news had a nightmare of a business trip this weekend flew into a winter storm out of Richmond one of the bumpiest flights I've ever been on and had a layover in Atlanta Friday night and got stuck there overnight due to their winter storm they got at the same time. Didn't get home till 4 PM yesterday and went straight to bed.

Really cool stuff though that I am seeing on this. Also shocked on the 3.3! ehaase beat me to it I am going to guess that the 3.3 will be replacing the 3.5 and 3.7 engines soon. The blue with the black honeycomb grille are my favorite so far.
ehaase and 2b2 like this.

That's good to know. So how long are the Mustang images to be embargoed?

I guess Ford is trying to spread out their news a bit. They are offering quite a bit all at one.

Wow, excellent if true......probably just as much zip as a gen 1 3.5 EB

Wouldn't is be funny if the new version of Mustang's 5.0 V8 was around 470 HP and 430 lb ft.
putting that engine much closer to Voodoo's outputs without turning the engine to 8,000 rpm.

With a 10-speed auto, I'd imagine that it would an absolute blast to drive, almost like a Voodoo
but not quite the top end rev.......

With the 3.5L V6 downsizing to 3.3L, the 3.7L V6 should downsize to the new 3.5L V6. Both with more power, more torque and better mpg.
