That being said, I drove past the local Lincoln dealership yesterday. There was an MKS and MKZ parked next to each other. As much as I loathe the fact that the MKZ is basically a heavily modified Fusion body shell, I have to admit that I still thought the MKZ looked more attractive and distinctive than the MKS. Go figure!
How about an exclusive to Lincoln SUV made off the new World (except USA) Ranger instead of an Explorer based Aviator?

[ broken record ]
Hummer DNA isn't being used by anyone
(afaik even that MB mega-buck-truck (G-Vagen?) has gone mainstream/ordinary
& same with the LR Defender soon, no?)
[edit-note: hope it was obvious I meant ONLY for an Explorer-sized Lincoln]

1/2 = they weren't trying too hard with the Z
1/2 = the Z is on a CAR Platform instead of a g.d. SUV one
1/2 = Fomoco BOTHERED to update the Z ... twice!

I'm much more into body SHAPE**
so I don't want too much emphasis placed on a FACE
might also be why I like the idea of having 3 different grille treatments available (just a bit more daring/designer-y than the popular chrome-mesh-replacement seen on (many?) Chrysler 300's)
& they don't even have to think up anything new imho
Star+mesh
Continental 'grid'
vertical slats

** still hoping for a Smoooooooooth re-brith

imho the Falcon+Continental is the first place this degree of exclusivity & global cross-fertilization is needed
...
after that it'll be time for the low-numbered-F-series+T6 merger anyway

Re: Spy Photos: 2013 Lincoln MKT Drops the Waterfall Grille

Would Hummer DNA work with Lincoln? Lincolns of the past are more elegant and sophisticated looking(excluding the current Ford bodied or Ford similar looking Lincoln models)

I still think the front-ends from the 2003 Aviator Concept and Mark X Concept could work if done with similar or the same headlamp design.

2b2, I agree with the choice of grilles and I mentioned elsewhere but not to bring it up again but I will about choice of decklids being offered as well. Tire or no tire design in the back. (OK, I said the tire decklid word don't shoot me. I know how that sets everyone off here except me and maybe a few others)

Hummer DNA is the anti-Lincoln serum. It is bad enough that they have to have a Navigator.

^ SobeSVT, I'd probably use a different set of metaphors for you (while keeping my idea the same) ... fine watches?:
how about the exterior likened to a Hublot Big Bang and the inside a Constantin-Vacheron?

when I first saw Hummers I thought them absurd
but over time (& smaller Hummers coming out), I started looking at them as "brutal-chic"
which is what I'm suggesting for a Lincoln Cuv of Explorer size,
not actually copying any stylistic elements - just something to suggest the wealth & power and even deadliness plus grace that was (imho) the significance of a knight in armour ... updated (not quite all the way) to the CEO's $5,000 suit
(sorry if that price is way off - I know more about knights than CEO's)

I don't remember you decklid idea offhand but *like* it.
I've ranted about having an actuated spoiler built into the trunklid of sport models

Re: Spy Photos: 2013 Lincoln MKT Drops the Waterfall Grille

via facebook I came across a limousine supplier's blogsite
so searched Lincoln on it and found:
AmericanLimousineSales.blogspot.com
...a custom limousine can serve two needs your corporate work as well as your nightlife transportation. He seemed very frustrated in our first conversation with regard to Lincoln discontinuing the town car. I sympathize with my client and explain to him I'm sure Lincoln had a good reason to discontinue the town car and replace it with a crossover vehicle. Let the truth be said not quite sure myself why Lincoln did that. I know one thing is for certain the MKT crossover will not and can not replace the Lincoln town car. Unless they do some extraordinary changes I don't see that happening in the near future... ...I suggested to this client why not turn left why not change the playing field with a unique conversion that demands respect, shows elegance, and represents the essence of pure automotive luxury. May I present the first Lincoln MKS stretch limousine custom-built by American limousines sales in Los Angeles California. When I test drove this vehicle I was shocked and amazed at the comfort, the smooth ride not to mention all the attention it was getting while I was on the road.

I always wondered how an MKS would look as a limo

Re: Spy Photos: 2013 Lincoln MKT Drops the Waterfall Grille

I was simply thinking that the finer detailing of the new grille was what this design idea needed all along. It is a definite improvement.

Donne e motori, gioie e dolori (translation: if it's got wheels or t*ts, it will give you problems)

Re: Spy Photos: 2013 Lincoln MKT Drops the Waterfall Grille

MKS makes for an interesting Limo (with Ecoboost of course as standard) Regular cars looks more like a Limo instead of a fancy van/SUV converted anyway.

Perhaps we can see a 6 inch stretch in wheelbase and a few inches wider or so of the MKS for Town Car duty?? Plus a more formal looking roof to fit the part similar to what Cadillac did in 2007 to the DTS when it showed the DTS-L.

Thanks, TurboS40. I'd never seen the DTS-L before
pic

&
with a more formal stretched MKS
then the shorter (like now) MKS could emphasize a sporty-look instead of "being neither fish nor fowl"
(footnotes:
1 thus not have to try to do double-duty, sportLux + flagship(sic)
2 this split-model approach was talked about looooong ago on BON
3 and I'm still chopping 'twin' big Lincolns occasionally )
