Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

Designer Josiah LaCalla has taken a stab at what a Ford Mustang-based Lincoln model might look like with the Continental Mark X1 concept. Make no mistake, Ford's luxury arm has made it abundantly clear that it won't be pursuing any new products outside of volume models, which means a flashy halo grand tourer like the one you see here isn't in the cards. LaColla used the Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG as a basis for his creation, which explains the long nose, but we certainly don't mind the idea of a rear-wheel drive Lincoln with a cabin pushed to the aft.

While we're dreaming, there's certainly nothing stopping us from imagining what's under that lengthy hood. We like the idea of the 5.8-liter supercharged V8 from the Shelby GT500 pushing the Mark X1 down the road, but how about something a little more inventive? Something like a high-revving, buttery V12 with enough torque to push the contraption well past 200 miles per hour. Dream a little dream, people.

Yikes! Suffice it to say that the brand is starting to remove themselves from large obnoxious cow catcher looking grills (i.e. MKZ). The profile looks svelte, the grill not withstanding

s'funny
I feel almost the opposite

I see the overall car as just the MKR skin stretched over the SLS
(so unoriginal most amateur choppers would avoid that)
&
with the exception of the "squinty" continuing the grille onto the hood
the vertical slats LOOK GREAT
esp in the side shot

imho a properly done waterfall grille is just streamlining (a good thing) a function-over-form (another good thing) air opening with minimal-tho-exquisite style

edit
went to the guy's site
this grille/front ain't bad

DO NOT like the Mazda-envy sheetmetal-bumps over the front wheel

^His Mustang rendering is way off to be a Mustang. The wheelbase is really long.

Re: Would a Mustang-based Lincoln look like this?

I think that this is an 'extra' over the 'what might be'...
We need the MKS, the Extended MKS 'L', the entry level model (MKZ), the full size hauler (Navigator, and 'L')
but the Coupe/Convertible unit should not be the 'hot rod' but rather the Silent and Quiet with more horsepower
and torque (options) than the Ford level. The unit should be more of a 'Bently' type (GTC) with Eco V6 or V8.
We should not be looking for a Ford GT in the Lincoln fold and not the ultra GT (no S-class Cabriolet nor Rolls.
The Supercharger can stay on the Mustang (but I think that twin-turbos are on the way). Take what we (Lincoln)
have and tweek it. Now is the time for a turbo diesel (Ford's five cylinder PROVEN in the field) option of silence
refinement and give the owner some class and the ability to enjoy. Is this not what Grand Touring is all about?

Chrysler called. They'd like their Crossfire back.
