Looking back: 1983 Ford Escort GT Promo

Quote:
Heading Fordís 1983 Escort line was a stronger GT two-door hatchback sedan with 88 horses courtesy of throttle body electronic fuel injection. Though these and other improvements helped keep Escort at the top of the sales charts, volume nonetheless declined some 70,0000 to 315,370.

Re: Looking back: 1983 Ford Escort GT Promo

My father had a new red 1984 Mercury Lynx (Escort twin) 3-door with diesel engine supplied by Mazda. The mileage was amazing. We calculated about 75mpg when we drove all the way from Dutchess County, NY to Frederick, MD for a family wedding back in 1984. And didn't the glow plugs heat up in something like 3 seconds for easy starting?
