The company also is developing a new family of highly efficient engines under the internal program code Nano, the sources said. The small-displacement V6 engines will employ Ford's EcoBoost technology, including turbocharging and direct injection.

The first of the Nano engines, a 2.9-liter V6, isn't likely to appear until 2016 or later, the sources said.

So much for the Nano V6 being exclusive to Lincoln

Re: Ford aims for 3-mpg improvement in 2015 F-150 pickup

It would be great to see these mileage improvements strictly due to weight and drag reduction.

Current 3.7 V6 could get 20 city/ 26 highway MPG

Re: Ford aims for 3-mpg improvement in 2015 F-150 pickup

tho I've never heard of a 2.9 before, guess it shouldn't surprise me - as a non-EB variant

re: exclusivity for Lincoln
what's most important imho, is that Lincoln get it first
&
can easily see (eventually) the Nano being a top engine on a Ford model while it's the std engine on Lincoln's version (á là Fusion/MKZ's 2.0EB)

otoh, I've been wondering if for hybrid engines, Lincoln might get a 2.3 4cyl while Ford (mostly?) stays with the 2.0 (or even changes to the not-here-yet 1.5 3cyl)?
+
been wondering when a v6 hyrbid will unveil for larger vehicles, maybe CD4+3 and up?

The MPG improvement will mean nothing if it only exists in advertising and window stickers like it appears to be the case with their hybrids.

Re: Ford aims for 3-mpg improvement in 2015 F-150 pickup

Start lecturing Chevrolet - its Snuze model NEVER has gotten close to EPA ratings in any test by journalists - most common rating is 23 or 24 mpgs. The Eco model is only less offensive in its difference. Government Motors has a long track record of tuning their models for the tests and the real world numbers are way off in the real world.

$2 Billion redesign? Wow, that's more money they're putting into Lincoln.

I can't wait to see this truck.
