2014 Ford Mustang details leaked, bye-bye Boss 302

It seems that Ford has let slip the official order guides for its 2014 Mustang lineup. The changes for the upcoming model year are fairly minimal, as the car was just recently refreshed for 2013, and is expected to get an entirely new model in 2015.

Sadly, for us and anyone else that has had the pleasure of driving it, the biggest news here is that the Mustang Boss 302 will not be carried over for next year. This news runs according to Ford's stated plan of offering the track-terror for just two seasons, but it pains our enthusiast hearts, nevertheless.

As for the rest of it: there are a couple of new colors (Oxford White and Ruby Red Metallic with Tinted Clearcoat) and three colors that will go away (the Boss 302's School Bus Yellow, High Performance White and Red Candy Metallic). A couple of new exterior appearance packages have been added to the options sheet, as well.

The 2014 Shelby GT500 will now get heated front seats as standard (not with the optional Recaros, however), and will also be available in the two new colors. Check out the full 2014 model year ordering guides in the galleries below.

The Boss 302 is a great package over all but I'm not too keen on the roof being a different color than the body especially when the roof and stripes are red and the body is black. It looks like a Pep Boys fan dressed up a base model to make it as gaudy as possible. Still, the engine and suspension are great. I like that Ford is keeping special editions out for only a couple of years. They did it with the SVO, the Mach1, the Bullitt, and now the Boss 302. This does keep them unique. I do wish you could get the V6 Performance Package on Pony Package. Since the Pony Package returned in '06 (IIRC), it was IMHO the best looking of all the models. I've never been much for the big grille lights on the GT model but I do like the corral around the running horse, the extra chrome bar, and the smaller fog lights on the Pony Package equipped cars a lot.

Buy American!
Buy Ford!
So say we all...

Is 2013 the last model year for the current Mustang? Or will be a limited number of 2014 model year , before the new Mustang arrive? Will be the new Mustang a 2014 , 2014 1/2 or 2015 model designation? The new Mustang is schedule for debut in April 2014, is still on time to arrive on that date?

Sad to see the Boss go, but perhaps the new Mustang will handel even better?

The Boss will be missed but personally I have always preferred the GT500 with the SVT Performance Package.
