As most of you know, I ordered a Conti back in October and it was delivered a few days before Christmas. It is a Reserve 3.0 with Tech, Climate, 30 way seats, CD and Revel. Rudy red with Cappuccino interior. After only a day to get myself acclimated to the car, we drove it around 500 miles over Christmas to visit family.
I love the adaptive steering. It is very quick when going slowly but is less quick at highway speeds so it is not darty at all. The car is very quiet and the ride is very good. I am surprised that it drives much smaller than I expected. It really is much more nimble and a better handler than most people might think.
The 3.0 has serious power and also is very refined. In normal driving or even somewhat aggressive driving, the transmission is very smooth and shifts nicely. However, under wide open throttle, the shifts are too slow and lazy. It almost feels like someone shut off the engine just prior to the shift. I hope that improves with more mileage, but I will be getting an aftermarket tune, anyway, so that should solve that issue.
I was a bit disappointed to find that the memory seats do not work. It saves and remembers the mirror settings but the seat does not respond to the memory buttons. Otherwise the vast adjustments for the seats work flawlessly and my wife and I both enjoyed a nice massage during our road trip. I have an appointment to have the memory feature fixed. I hope it is just a software glitch and they don't have to pull the door panel or remove the seat.
Sync 3 has some improvements over previous versions however there are a few things that I liked better about my MKS sync/Nav system. Voice commands work perfectly and Sync 3 is very user friendly. It does seem silly to me that there is a quadrant that tells me my phone is connected, how much battery life it has, how many bars and that I have 911 assist. I would have been just as happy to have the bluetooth symbol displayed and not waste space with stuff I already know. There are a few other things that I preferred about the earlier system but nothing to be alarmed about.
Overall, I am pleased with the car. Once the memory seats are fixed, I will be happier. Also, as soon as I have a couple of thousand miles or so on the car, I will be getting a tune from Livernois. Their 3.0 tune adds 53 HP at the wheels and improves the transmission shift quality. Good times are ahead!
