As I commented on their page, the video is misleading – MKZ will be discontinued in name only. There will be a replacement/next-generation “MKZ”, but it’s likely to get a name, and will be on a new platform, so thus, “MKZ” is to be discontinued. Flat Rock is being expanded, and MKZ is likely to be produced there. This clip made the dropping of MKZ sound more dramatic than it will be.

Thanks for this, Topnotch

I agree with Rmc ²
there are a number of ways that McElroy could've mis-interpreted what he 'heard'
tho
while the STARstang architecture/philosoform might include the replacement, sorta like Bloggin's posts;
something I saw a while back was Still indicating a cD6 Z-model ...needed IN CHINA! imho...
...could be marketed as a 'Conti-light' (tho I'd like the "MKZ"/"Z" continued)

Yeah, just saw the same thing on Motor1.com and I'm not buying it, especially since the MKZ is their #2 selling nameplate. I think them making an all new midsize with a different name than MKZ is much more likely than them leaving the midsize luxury sedan market all together. If were true I would be very upset as assuming gas will stay cheap and that everyone wants an SUV/CUV is rather short sighted, not the kind of thinking I would expect from Lincoln/Ford.

Not surprising, now its confirmed Lincoln will be returning to actual names for their entire line up which I think will be for their benefit. Now at least we can start speculating on what they'll call it.

I'm fine with keeping MKZ... or as I say "the Z"

Let's hope that Ford puts as much thought intl the Z's replacement as they did with the Continental....
What If the next Zephyr was a short wheelbase Continental with 4" less wheelbase and rear leg room.
