Ford Focus RS to get 2.3 l ecoboost

Ford Focus RS Club

From Autoexpress

More details are emerging about the all-new third-generation Ford Focus RS – and it's likely to be powered by a 2.3-litre EcoBoost turbocharged engine producing up to 330bhp.

Speaking at the launch of the 247bhp Focus ST, chief program engineer for the ST and all other global performance cars, Matthias Ton, stated that the 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine used by the ST was close to its power limit without significantly upgrading its fuel system and turbocharger.

Rest HERE

I hope Ford will use AWD on this car.

Re: Ford Focus RS to get 2.3 l ecoboost

INFO!
even if short on technical stuff...
shows the EB HPperLiter (140) that I've been using for my speculations is being achieved
&but
really surprised by the last sentence, "The new Ford Focus RS is expected to go on sale by the end of 2013 at a substantial premium to the ST."

now,
I'm jonesing to know the bore/stroke ... almost more interested in a possible new 2.0 version
(tho both 2.3 & 2.0EB's would be more power than I'd prolley ever spring for)

330 BHP from a 4 banger is pretty impressive

in 1987 I bought a Mustang with the 2.3 litter and it put out 88 hp. 330 hp is impressive.

@ asrapid: I highly doubt that Ford will put awd on the Focus... It would be nice though.

I have a feeling we'll see this engine in the Fusion ST/RS if it comes out. I'm sure that version will definitly have awd.

This will be a great little engine. I can't wait for it to come out. I wonder if there will be a new 7 or 8 speed transmission to go with it? I'm sure the current 6 spd will be around for a while.

Well if there is going to be Fusion(mondeo) RS /SVT/ST i hope it will get more horsepower and AWD..something close to 400 hp..there is nice concept from Polestar being presented...3.0 I6 awd S60 with 508 hp LINK. I can see Fusion as competitior to S60.
Now fusion/mondeo with 3.5 l v6 ecoboost 400 hp and awd wouldn't be so bad..question is how much would it cost...and would people buy it?

except the S60 is more 3-series size
_wlb___ovl__________
110.6 - 182.0 - 3series
109.3 - 182.2 - S60
112.2 - 191.7 - Fusion

tho IF Lincoln got a Focus/G.C-Max based compact (in addition to a Mustang-co-platformed sportsedan/coupe-cabrio:
108.0 - 185.0 guessing)
that'd be killer-bracketing imho

True. It's the Volvo S80 that is similar in size to the 2013 Fusion/Mondeo and outgoing Mondeo sedan (The S60 is based on the shorter wheelbase version of the EUCD platform).
111.6in - 191.0in - S80
