First Official Photos of All-New 2013 Ford Mondeo Wagon and Five-Door Liftback Varian

SEPTEMBER 06, 2012
Carscoop

If you thought the presentation of the new European-market 2013 Ford Mondeo at the Blue Oval's "Go Further" brand event in Holland today wouldn’t hold any substantial surprises since it's basically a rebadged version of the North American market Fusion sedan with different powerplants, you're wrong. Very wrong.
Along with the four-door sedan variant of the Mondeo, Ford also premiered the two more body styles, the sleek five-door liftback and the more spacious and practical Wagon (Estate) models, both of which were uniquely developed for Europe, which means don't expect to see either in North America.

While Ford is keeping most details close to its chest until the world debut of the 2013 Mondeo series at the Paris Motor Show later this month, it did reveal some details about the powertrain options for Europe.

Besides the 1.0-liter three-cylinder turbocharged EcoBoost petrol engine with 123HP (125PS) and 170Nm (125 lb-ft) of torque that we told you about on Wednesday, Ford confirmed the availability of a hybrid variant.

How come the Fusion doesn't get the glass roof?

Nice rear wiper on the sedan.........We don't get that here. 5-door MKZ Touring or Fusion Sportsroof anyone?

Would the "wagon" work better in the US as a Ford, Lincoln or both?? Only call it an "Estate" instead of a wagon for Lincoln. Maybe that could give a little more distinction.

I still think a wagon version of the MKZ would be a nice alternative to the Acura TSX Sport Wagon. A friend of mine works at Inskip Acura and he has people come in all the time and ask if the Wagon has AWD and when he says no they are turned off... if they offered an MKZ wagon with AWD I think that would be awesome. But then what would be the point of the MKX and the new MKG.

I would love to see the wagon in the US. No matter which model(s) of Fusion get sold, I'd like to figure out how to get those Mondeo headlights.

Probably because Europe doesn't have Lincoln and Ford wants Lincoln to have more exclusive items here in the U.S.

I really like the 5-door Fusion. It looks like it wouldn't take much for Ford to offer the hatch here since the rear windshield angle looks to be the same and trunk lid area looks like the same size. I know there's more to it than that, but I bet Ford could do it without to much problem.

It really P!$$e$ me off that Ford offers the Europeans the panoramic sunroof but not the US! I'm hoping it will at least be an option! The pictures I've seen looks like the sunroof was taken from the Fiesta, it's SO SMALL!!! And NO I'm not going to buy a Lincoln so I can get a bigger sunroof! I'll buy from a different brand if I have to do that.

That wagon is probably one of the nicest looking wagons I've seen in a long time. I really like the 5 door too. Hey Ford, if you bring the 5 door to the USA I promise I'll buy it!
