http://www.mazda-madness.nl/nieuws/0mazda61.jpg

FoMoCoNews is proud to bring to you pictures of the 2008 Mazda6. Our Member Igor has been working to obtain them, and here they are!!

The all-new Mazda6 arrives as a full redesign of Mazda’s first model to embody the Zoom-Zoom product philosophy, offering a thrilling drive to all those who still remember the love of motion first experienced as a child. Following the all-new Mazda2, the new Mazda6 is the second Mazda new generation product to evolve to the next stage, further deepening the emotional connection between man and machine - Mazda calls it “Kizuna”.

Inheriting Mazda’s tradition of responsive handling and performance that has become recognized around the world and evolving the original model’s distinctive design and exceptional functionality, the all-new Mazda6 takes a step forward in quality and offers strengthened environmental and safety performance. The result is an exciting and delightful experience that only the all-new Mazda6 can deliver.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Mazda's are my favorite Fords. Congratulations to the designers there. This is excellent work.

I confess to seeing a little of the Sebring in the sedan, but only in how the Sebring SHOULD have looked. Overall, I think this will only add to Mazdas reputation and business. There is nothing too original in the interiors, but they are very good just the same.

When do these come to market?

Megeebee, you are seing things lately, is everything alright where you are? :D , My favorite Fords are F150 Series Trucks, I love this Mazda. Its great it has Navigation and Malibu does not

Early specs:

Base engine: 2.5l I4 - 190-200hp
Optional Engine: 3.7l PFI V6 - 280hp
AWD optional

I said it elsewhere and will repeat it here - if they offer the wagon here, I will buy it - trade my Mazda3 for it.

Is that wagon available with AWD? If so, I love it. 3.7L equipped with AWD will probably cost north of $30K, but niiiiiice.

Everyone seems to be a bit timid of over-styling the interior lately. Think Nissan Quest and Subaru Tribeca. Nobody wants that crap except 16-21 year olds who can't afford them anyway. Too error on the side of understated is always a good thing.

If Chrysler remembered how to design cars the Sebring could have looked a bit like the new Mazda6.

Unfortunately for Chrysler the Sebring looks like . . . Sh. . . ebring.

- saw some posts at CSS saying the U.S. version will be different - maybe even different sizes

I'm hoping the main differences between the US and EU models are the grilles. In the spyshots that appeared in the US has the grille with a body color bar in the grille like the current Sport and Grand Sport models. If there are two specifications, at least I hope the US model is like a stretched version like perhaps a la long wheel base model 2 inches or so longer?

yeah, last time with the Mazda3, they had different grilles for different markets - even bumpers (as well as int. fabrics)
and (moving my edit to a new post)
- Doesn't it look like the sedan is shorter than the liftback? esp. the rear overhang?

that's reversed from the way they have been lately...

2b2, I think the angle in the first pic of the sedan model is a little off maybe that is why it appears that the rear overhang is shorter than the hatchback.

The hatchback model reminds me of Infiniti G and M, the curves of the trunk resembles the curves and shape of the G35's trunk and the rear small window is similar to the M35's little rear window in the C pillar.

the new twin force 3.7L in the 6?!?

I've read it's supposed to be different from Lincoln/Ford's 3.7 - probably zoom-zoom heads
&/btw
the TwinForce is 3.5
only the non turbo is 3.7

Oh...is this the MK R based new Linconl???????? No? are you sure????? look like that!!!!!
See that front fenders and compare with the MK R....are you sure this sedan are not based in the Lincoln concept MK R ????? Is gorgeous!! Is fantastic!!
Put a Linconl badge in this marvelous car with 3,7 lt V6 and 300 HP and sell it like MK SS...!!!!!!
And i want a hatchback version, ok? in red!

WoW!!!! look at those headlamps!! avant garde-Fusion style! look at the rear end.....gorgeous, with substance, with interesting surface....! look at those front fenders !!!!!!! FANTASTIC !!! The grille is very Mazda , too ordinary...maybe a deeper and bigger grille, like the Audi or Cadillac grilles, do better job. But the car is the most radical and atractive medium size car in the market!!!!!

Bravo, Mazda....Bravo!

Actually, comparing this Mazda to the Sebring probably sounded like an insult. I hate the Sebring, myself. The only thing that prompted me to say that was the very short rear deck and general shape of the tail lights.

Wow, I'm like shocked and pleased that this car is getting positive opinions like 90% of the time on various forums and sites. Of course fanboys of any particular brand will say this and that about the Mazda6. It like if the Mazda studio designers infused Japanese styling elements onto the Mondeo.

From the pix I've seen, I still like the 'Bu a LOT,
but think I still rate the VectrAura, coming in just 2 years iirc, as equal to or better than everything else...
tho the CD3 MCEs next year might change that.

so many cars, so little time

I question the C&D article, the Mazda6 needs to grow in size to match its competitions in the US and in Europe. The European mid-size class is now basically the same size as what we are used to in the US. The Ford Mondeo is around 190 inches long, that is basically the average size for a mid-size car in the US, and also look at the Opel Vectra and the Saturn Aura, it's just basically a badge engineering, the Saturn Aura is 191 inches. I don't believe that are two different models like what Honda did to the JDM/EU Accord and the USDM Accord with the USDM Accord really being the JDM Honda Inspire. If one looks at the spyshots of the Mazda6 taken in the US around California and Michigan, the only clearly differences are the location of the turning signal side markers, fog lights location, and the tail lights resembling more like the CX-9. Mazda wouldn't make the mistake of the 626 again and Mazda doesn't have the resources to make a two seperate models.

some interesting stuff from

a size comparo between pix of the Mazda 6 hatch & the Volvo S80 (approx 190" ovl)
[url=http://i7.photobucket.com/albums/y283/prettyhairshawn/MazdaLengthCompa.jpg].jpg 723x592 (]CSS[/url) from member, CharlotteNC.

and a Mazda email reply posted by member, Neburg964:

"Thanks for your e-mail. We are indeed getting a MAZDA6 designed and engineered solely
for the North American market. But I can assure you it'll be every bit as stylish and sporty as
its European counterpart and it won't be "softer." And although we can't talk about details
until next summer, we're absolutely confident that when the new 6 hits showrooms, it'll be the
best mid-size sedan on the market. Period.

Again thanks for your e-mail and interest, and stay tuned.

Best regards,

Jay Amestoy
Vice President, Public and Government Affairs
Mazda North American Operations"

though as member, SHEPO, observes:
"...maybe what Mazda means by having it "designed and engineered solely for the North American market" is changes that
need to be done in every market, such as differing engines, wheels, option packages, bumpers, lights, etc..."

imho, if the new U.S. Mazda6 is the same length as the S80(/Fusion/Camry) & therefore smaller than the new super-sized Accord, that'd be just fine.

edit:
AutoBlog (http://www.autoblog.com/2007/09/11/frankfurt-2007-the-new-mazda6-brings-sexy-back-to-the-midsize-m/) has dimensions & stuff
( converted from those Euro measurements)
wlb = 107.28
ovl = 186.4/187.598wagon
width = 70.7
height 56.7/58.66
this converter (http://www.mr2ownersclub.com/converter.htm) says
170 PS = 167.67 hp
226 Nm = 166.67 torque for the 2.5 4cyl - probably tuned to be as carbon-free as poss.

so
does the 107.28" wlb mean the Mz6 is CD3???
Fusion et al = 107.4
EUCD S80 = 111.6
Mondeo = 112.2
