Mondeo Titanium X
BRENTWOOD, Essex, May 6, 2008 – The multi-award winning Ford Mondeo is set to extend its premium sporty appeal with the introduction of a new flagship - the Titanium X Sport.
Visually exciting, packed with standard equipment and powered by new premium diesel or five-cylinder petrol engines, the new Titanium X Sport is the most desirable Mondeo yet.
Created in response to the recent surge in retail demand for top end versions of Mondeo, the new Titanium X Sport combines superb dynamics with premium luxury and a sportier new look.
Available in five-door hatchback and estate body styles, Titanium X Sport models are designed to stand out from the crowd. Aggressively styled 18in alloys fill the wheel arches while twin chromed exhaust tailpipes and body-coloured side skirts complete the picture.
The interior is also themed with sporty red stitching on the leather/alcantara seats, leather steering wheel and gear shift lever. Aluminium trim detailing is replaced with stylish piano black inlays.
Customers can choose from two powerful and efficient powertrains. Existing five-cylinder 220PS 2.5-litre turbocharged petrol, or the new diesel, which is expected to account for the majority of sales.
With 35PS more than its 2.0TDCi sister, the new 175PS 2.2-litre TDCi engine is among the smoothest units of its type combining swift, quiet acceleration of 0-62mph in 8.4 seconds and a top speed of 139mph with a combined economy figure of 45.6mpg. C02 emissions are low too at 165g/km.
Generously specified, the Mondeo Titanium X Sport's standard equipment includes in-dash Sony six CD player, voice control, rain sensing wipers, automatic headlights, front and rear park assist, dual-zone climate control and Ford Power start button.
Additional upgrades over the standard Titanium include advanced Bluetooth connectivity, bi-xenon lights, alloy pedals and sports suspension.
Both engines come with six-speed manual gearbox and insurance groups are 12E for diesel and 14E for petrol models.
Available to order now and priced from £23,355 (5 door) and £26,605 (estate) on the road, Titanium X Sport adds more premium appeal and choice to Ford’s popular Mondeo.

This is a car that Ford could use...

Imagine this as the next successor to the Fusion or even the Taurus...or how about this as Ford's next offering for Police and Taxi use as well...

The possibilities are pretty vast and if the Mondeo was to make it to our shores with these good looks and that much kit and style, it would blow the new Malibu, the Altima, Camry, and the mighty Accord out of the water!

That is of course if the UAW doesn't find a way to scuttle the car in the production process like what is currently happening to the Malibu.

I swear, if I had the money...I would so import this from mainland Europe.

Stay Fabulous!

And they are trying to pull a CLS on an SUV no less...

I've seen the X6 in person and it sure does not grow on you. It just doesn't make sense.

The Mondeo on the other hand, that makes perfect sense!

The new Mondeo in the flesh has such a presence on the road which cannot be captured in pictures. Its a very strong looking car and gives the same perception when behind the wheel.

I have owned 2 Volvo S60's and always appreciated the bank vault like feeling when driving down the road, but I would most definitely choose the new Mondeo over the S60 today. Now if Ford could just find a way to put Volvo seats in their cars, that would suit me just fine.

BTW the new Mondeo is getting great consumer response in Euro land, and Ford Europe is continuially coming out with cool features such as the X trim level.

Last year 2007, Ford offered what they called Ford Individual-
'Ford Individual' features three different themes, sporty, luxury or hitec. The 'sporty line' was designed with Ford's ST range of performance cars in mind. It features distinctive styles of alloy wheels and spoilers, as well as interior packages with alloy pedals and scuff plates.
High-quality leather and wood applications are available on the 'luxury line', one step above Ford's regular Ghia trim. Luxury line also gives customers a selection of special interior color and trim variations.
The 'hitec line' is aimed at customers who are interested in extra technical features - these include premium audio systems and rear-view cameras.
Vehicle personalization started modestly at Ford in the early 1990's, with less than 500 modified vehicles. Today, around 600,000 vehicles - roughly a third of all passenger cars and commercial vehicles from Ford of Europe - are ordered with special equipment or features. Bigger vehicles, like the new Ford S-MAX or Ford Galaxy already have an individualization take rate of close to 70 per cent.
"For 2007, 'Ford Individual' offers a greater selection of features and Ford has improved how the programs are marketed and delivered to customers. The ability to order a 'Ford Individual' package has been integrated into the regular ordering process at the dealership," explained Mattes.
'Ford Individual' features are fitted onto the vehicles at company modification centers, or in the respective production sites where the vehicles are manufactured.
"The increasing demand for accessory parts has opened up new ways for us to better serve customers," said Mattes. "We have been able to improve product quality and supply logistics - as well as lower costs -through the central purchasing of parts."

Some pictures here of the choices http://www.autoblog.nl/archive/2007/01/17/en-dat-is-drie-ford-individual

If you look on this post from FordEurope.net there are some nice pics of the trim level offered on the S-Max called SportPlus

Now the next trim level should be the ST, which I am guessing will have the high pressure turbo Volvo in-line 6 and maybe even AWD.
