AutoBlog: 2009 Mazda6 caught naked with new curves (http://www.autoblog.com/2008/02/28/spy-shots-2009-mazda6-caught-naked-with-new-curves/)

"...Though at first glance it looks exactly like the 6 that debuted in Frankfurt last year,
closer inspection reveals many changes to the car..."

LeftLaneNews: Early Look - Mazda6 differs slightly from Atenza (http://www.leftlanenews.com/mazda6.html)
( a more reasonable headline imho ^^ )

they also have a nice closeup of the LED tail light :)

First of all Mazda designers REALLY know what their doing. That looks fantastic! It is leap years ahead of the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord. I feel sure this will be a huge hit for Mazda.

And just maybe the new Mercury Milan and Ford Fusion will take some styling cues from the Mazda 6.

Think I really need more pix (duh ;))
...can't decide if some of the differences from the Euro version are just lighting & for the front, the worst possible angle.
kinda does look like the hood is lower & somehow more Mz2-like,
main fear is that we'll only get the 4-door (which is what the one in the pix is)
Don't understand how posters on some sites are thinking this is completely different (even to the platform) from the Euro-Mz6

I'm still pre-occupied with the notion having the Fusion + MKZ on one variant
& the Mz6 + Milan on another... Not that I'd want Mercury & Mazda to share styling, but if there actually is any difference in the 'form-factor' betwn Fusion & Mz6....

edit
just for fun, here's a link to a Mz6 chop from last July (http://home.surfree.com/~pauld/Mz6-rear.jpg), that imho is fairly close to the spypix

Agreed, I found the front has too much of early 2000 Mazda in it. The real looks better than the Global styling

The front end styling of the US Spec Mazda 6 still carries the design theme of Mazda and still allows a resemblance to the outgoing Mazda 6 so consumers can quickly recognize it as a Mazda...it is certainly evolutionary...not revolutionary.

Still though, it has to be said, the front of the new Mazda 6 is vastly better than the Toyota Camry, Honda Accord or the Nissan Altima...am I right? ^^

I can not wait to see how the interior holds out compared to the Euro Spec version...I hope it stays very close!

P.S. Isn't so nice how Mazda integrated the exhaust tips into the rear fascia...ala the Lexus LS...it just finishes off the tail end so beautifully, versus the exhaust pipe hanging beow and extending past the bumper.

The Devil truly is in the Details.

Stay Fabulous!

The rear of this NA version looks better than the Euro version, but the front has something missing. It doesn't look as complete as the Euro 6.

Chrome?

Does it really need more...or does it need some sort of division from the fog lights and the lower intake.

the Mz6 needs LED foglites http://www.fomoconews.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gifhttp://www.fomoconews.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gifhttp://www.fomoconews.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gifhttp://www.fomoconews.com/forums/images/icons/icon3.gif like the LRX's that I've been using for chopping lately
but
the car in pix looks like a high level trim imho & doesn't have 'em :(

I'll agree LED fog lights make the front of a car look better.

It looks like the headlights are more upright that the Euro version making the NA car look too wide.

Yes you are right, they did modify the style of the headlight cluster and re-worked the layout on the inside. But the overall shape and size appears unchanged. Have a look...

US Spec 2009 Mazda 6

European 2009 Spec Mazda 6

And it appears that the front end of the US Mazda 6 has been smoothed out and the angles toned down slightly from the European version...and of course the obvious changes of relocating the fog lights, silver colored fog light surrounds, and the US Sport Style Grille.

I personally like the look of the US version as much as I like the European version...but for me, the clincher will be the interior! If it is as splendid as the European version is, then I'm sold...and I'll have a Mazda 6 in my future...maybe they will develop a coupe version? Hmmmm...

^^ yeah the euroMz6's HLs look very diff from diff angles - much loooonnnger from a more side-shot
re-need more pix!!!
but
think I like the NA TLs more - myabe cuz imho the euro ones are needlessly swoopy? or maybe cuz the NA ones are sorta Milan-ish :) sorta?

^this^ is something I really want to see in person - the euro one, esp. the wood/plood trim, is rather ...umm... unusual - at least the very pale one -
IF they offer it here -
the Mazda3 had more upholstery options in the ROTW, as well as More Options :grumble: :grumble:

I found the US spec interior on Edmunds, see very similar to the EURO JDM but some of the switch gear and such has been changed for "American Tastes" (CLICK pics to view larger)
469 Euro

470 American

471 American

interesting the modest differences to the ROTW model
&
