RUSSELSHEIM, Germany — The latest member of Opel's OPC lineup is the new Corsa OPC, a valiant little performer that is equipped with a 192-horsepower turbocharged engine and Recaro seats. Opel brass said they will begin to roll out the new Corsa model throughout Europe this month and noted that "Growth markets like Russia will also play a role." There are no plans to bring the compact three-door to the U.S., however.
The Corsa OPC goes from zero to 62 mph in 7.2 seconds and has a top speed of 140 mph. Maximum torque is pegged at 170 pound-feet, and the four-cylinder engine is linked to a standard six-speed transmission.
That's right. The Astra is Focus size, the Corsa is Fiesta size.
This is a beautiful little car, very good looking and suprisingly competitive with the Mazda2. I wonder is Saturn is planing on briging it to the states.

I strongly believe that Ford can fetch higher prices in the US by bringing Euro Fords to America as Mercury. Think Focus Vs Astra.. It would also give Ford access to a Market Toyota and Nissan do not have and Honda has only one leg in.. The $20K plus economy market.
This Market is the one VW Golf or whatever they call it now sits in. Its low volume, but Margins are higher.

Interesting point for Mercury to have economy cars in the 20k segment. Acura tried this by doing a rebadged Civic, the CSX and I dont think it sold very well. But I think peoplr in the market for economy cars are looking for cheap, reliable transportation and to offer an economy car in the 20k bracket, people are better off to spend the $$ to get into a midsize car where there is more room, power etc.
