Well, it's about time. This is terrific news. This new Taurus should do very well for Ford & I hope it does. I'm really loving the new interior design.

Maybe if the Taurus is successful enough the Mercury Sable will be able to make a fast return. ;) Just wishing & hoping.

@MERCURYSABLE08

I know you want a sable again, but if Ford's going to succeed it can't have badge engineered models. That's what the Sable has been. But, Mullaly already said that mercury is going to positioned under Lincoln in size and price. So think of new Mercury's like VWs instead of a Ford.

Awesome, this is great news indeed.:)

However, what worries me are the numbers and how Ford plans to make it work and perform just as well, or much better. This SHO is a larger one than the old SHOs, with an approximate curb weight of 4,127 lb/1,872 kg (basing off FWD Lincoln MKS). The weights of the previous SHOs are 3,285 lb/1,490 kg (1G), 3,472 lb/1,575 kg (2G), and 3,329 lb/1,510 kg (3G). So it's gonna have a bit more weight to throw around. Plus, we don't even know the engine yet (though I think we're all assuming EcoBoost).

But hey, if GM can do the same thing to the CTS-V (4,250 lb/1,930 kg), I'm 100% sure that Ford can do the same. (Though the Impala SS is more likely the target than the CTS-V.)

American car manufacturers have only been rebadging cars since the 70's. I'm used to it now. I don't remember if the Sable had a SHO version. I still think Ford should have a Sable, but not an SHO version, but something sporty.

The Sable never had an equivalent to the SHO. They thought about it but never made it.

three new spypix (not totally uncovered**) & some verbiage from
LeftlaneNews - Spied: 2010 Ford Taurus SHO uncovered! (http://www.leftlanenews.com/ford-taurus-2010.html)

Our spy photographers have snapped a few more shots of what is almost certainly the high-performance SHO version of Fordís upcoming Taurus sedan - set to be unveiled in less than a week at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit. From the photos, which were snapped just hours ago, we can see the SHO-specific bodykit, dual tail pipes and large 20-inch alloy wheels....

** but - my god - it's blowing the camo off the car!!!!!

Yay! :D

Not seeing much different, except that the trapezoid grille looks like the honeycomb-styling from the Fusion Sport, and the wheels are the sporty kinetic-design one. But this pic is pretty revealing.

Funny fact: Every car that has it's front/back visible in the third pic is a Ford/from FoMoCo. (left-right: 4G Taurus, F-250, Windstar (I think), 2010 Taurus, Focus, Grand Marquis):p

Oh my god, I can't wait...just one more week...

Ford finally got the styling right, ecoboost with 355 hp/350 lbft torque, now hopefully the ecoboost model will get W rated tires and a 155 mph top speed. Some of the direct competitors: Infiniti G37-155 mph, Impala SS-154 mph, Hyundai Genesis-153 mph, Dodge Charger- 145 mph, Cadillac CTS- 155 mph. If Ford brings this car to market properly, there will be no second guessing where sales will be at! Even the standard Taraus and Fusion models should have 130- 145 mph top speeds, as this is where all the competition stands, and Ford already uses V rated rubber on these models.

I dont like the SHO tailligths! The Taurus tailligths are the best part of the design: a version of the Interceptor concept car tailligths... a version of the Galaxie and LTD tailligths...

via Autoblog (http://www.autoblog.com/2009/01/19/spy-shots-2010-ford-taurus-sho-spotted-without-camo/)

BringBackTheSHO.com (http://www.bringbackthesho.com/phpnuke/index.php) has NO-camo pix of a couple of Taurus SHO's - apparently from the lack of snow, taken some time ago.

do not like the tail lamps .. oh well - I really like the standard ones, so I am biased .. these might actually look very nice on different shots ..
