The Cadillac CTS Coupe is the culmination of a Manifest Destiny-like aspiration — a dream that, one day, an American automaker would be able to stand up to Mercedes, BMW, and Lexus. America, luxe yeah!...

...From a driving perspective, while the sedan's no slouch in terms of performance — the two cars share the same 3.6-liter direct-injection 304 HP V6 engine — the CTS Coupe gets off the line a bit quicker, thanks to a shorter (3.73:1 vs. 3.42:1 on the sedan/wagon) final drive. The Coupe also has a smaller front stabilizer bar (29 mm, or two millimeters smaller than the one found in the sedan), while the rear bar increases in size, from 20 mm to 24.55. Rear track also grows by one inch, to 63 inches. The combination gives the car a much more planted feel, especially when cornering at high speed. Which I did in the CTS Coupe — over and over again — on the twisty roads north of Napa Valley. Still, we're not talking epic differences here.

No, the real story, and what sets the Coupe apart from its siblings, is its exterior design...

Cadillac and Lincoln Dangle Maintenance Perks in Front of Buyers

Cadillac and Lincoln Dangle Maintenance Perks in Front of Buyers - InsideLine

Published Jun 21, 2010
Just the Facts:
  • Cadillac will provide owners of all 2011 models with free maintenance for four years or 50,000 miles.
  • Lincoln announced a similar program last week.
DETROIT — In the ongoing battle to win luxury buyers, Cadillac and Lincoln have announced new programs to cover scheduled maintenance.

Cadillac on Monday said it will provide owners of all 2011 models with "frequently required maintenance services" for the first four years or 50,000 miles. The program covers scheduled oil changes, tire rotations, replacement of engine and cabin air filters and a multipoint vehicle inspection.

Lincoln on Friday rolled out free scheduled maintenance for three years or 45,000 miles for all customers who buy or lease a new Lincoln until September 7. The Lincoln program covers new 2010 or 2011 vehicles. The Lincoln program covers oil changes, tire rotations, vehicle inspections, engine belts and hoses, as well as "wear items, including brake pads and wiper blades, which normally are not covered by a vehicle warranty," the company said in a statement.

Inside Line says: The domestic luxury brands duke it out to a draw — at least for those buyers concerned about maintenance costs. — Anita Lienert, Correspondent

2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe: First Drive - AutoGuide

Caddy’s new coupe is a Grand Tourer with sporting ambitions
By Derek Kreindler, Jun. 18, 2010

Cadillac wants its new CTS Coupe to take dead aim at the Infiniti G37 and the BMW 3-Series coupe, widely considered the performance benchmarks of the luxury coupe segment. After driving the new Caddy through Northern California’s freeways, country roads and hillside passes, we’re here to tell you that Cadillac has managed to simultaneously miss the mark while creating a wonderful car in its own right; one that the brand should be proud of and will hopefully find many homes among consumers who don’t live for track days (or public road shenanigans).

Instead, the CTS Coupe does what American cars do best: look good, sound good and move you down the road with comfort and panache. Don’t think of the CTS Coupe as a second rate alternative to the BMW 335i. Instead, think of it as an Aston Martin DB9 compared to Ferrari’s F430 – both excellent in their own right, but geared towards two different kinds of drivers.

STAND-OUT DESIGN, FIRST-RATE INTERIOR . . .

FAST FACTS
1.
The CTS Coupe comes exclusively with a direct-injection 3.6L V6 making 304-hp and 273 ft-lbs of torque.
2. Fuel economy is 17/26-mpg (city/hwy) for the automatic RWD or AWD model and 17/25 for the rear-drive manual.
3. An optional summer tire performance package adds larger 19-inch wheels and bigger brakes.
4. On sale in August, the CTS Coupe starts at $38,990
5. Coming soon, the CTS-V Coupe will boast 556-hp and a host of other high-performance upgrades.

First Drive: 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe

First Drive: 2011 Cadillac CTS Coupe - LeftlaneNews

By Mark Elias
A few years back, Cadillac introduced the second-generation CTS sedan to seemingly unanimous rave reviews. Along the way there was even a North American International Car of the Year award. For 2011, General Motors hopes lightning will strike again: This time with two fewer doors and a subtly sexier shape. Enter the CTS Coupe.

Designed as the tip of the sword for the new GM’s halo division, it is a Cadillac that is longer, shorter, faster, sharper, totally different, yet nearly the same as other Cadillacs.

Looks are deceiving…and alluring
Originally seen as a concept car in Detroit back in 2008, this classic two-plus-two shares the same wheelbase dimensions as the CTS four-door, enabling larger doors with a wider spread for rear seat access. Overall length is two-inches shorter than the sedan, while its overall height is two-inches lower.

The new windshield is laid at a faster angle of 62.3-degrees, while the rear glass is nearly flat, making this one of the most dramatically styled Cadillacs since the day GM Design Godfather Harley Earl drew taller-than-tall fins on the 1959 Eldorado. The CTS Coupe shares the front fenders, grille, headlamps, console and instrument panel with the Sport Sedan.

On the battlefield
...America versus the world. Part 14...

Leftlane’s bottom line:
We’ve always said “two’s company, three’s a party.”
With this third edition to the Cadillac CTS lineup, the General is proving once again that they are serious about building great cars. To say this CTS Coupe is the best Cadillac we have ever driven bears it out.
