All-Or-Nothing

Very very nice. Hyundai keeps improving with the introduction of every new model.

There is need for concern in all quarters. Whether Japan or Detroit like it or not, this Hyundai is no longer a me too brand.

a bit of restraint would help a lot http://rosaceagroup.org/The_Rosacea_Forum/images/smilies/emo-paperbag.gif

There is the cheapo aspect that Hyundai has yet to shed.

Looks like a (nearly) 140hp DI engine is possible:

http://www.autoblog.com/2010/04/26/videos-hyundai-shows-off-direct-injected-v6-four-cylinder-eig/

That would definitely be a game changer for the car and the class in general. The Chinese version only has 120 hp.

This car is competing with the fiesta and Aveo, right?

Looks like the Fiesta sedan.
It looks much better than Yaris or Versa.

I agree there's some similarity to the Fiesta
but
it doesn't look as well thought out imho
& what I really don't care for is how EVERYthing is diagonal, to me it looks like they took a "car shape" and whittled it so much it almost looks like a screw-bit :yikes:
also
it has no originality compared to their larger cars
whereas the Fiesta, while in keeping with Ford's DNA, can't be mistaken for any other Ford (imho)
&
kind of looks like they took All the frosting off a fullsize wedding cake...
...and stuck it All on a CUPCAKE  ;)

If it follows the same path as previous generations, then yes, you're correct.

And I'd say, barring any surprises during the road tests/reviews, that this car easily will be top-shelf in the segment along with the Fiesta and Fitt. Hyundai is on a roll.

Fit & finish appears first-rate and on par with Fiesta. Quality of interiors materials appears to equal the Fiesta's. I say "appears" in both cases because again, the reviews haven't been done yet.

If it truly has a DI engine with 140 hp, Ford's going to have it's hands full on this one. Especially considering Hyundai's penchant for having an excellent pricing structure, as pricing on the Fiesta is at the top of the segment.

I'm still not crazy about the wavy look that Hyundai put into the Sonata and now this. The greenhouse reminds me again of the Fiesta or the current Focus 4 door. The result will no doubt do well, but it won't sit in my driveway.

Done right and priced right, it could take a significant chunk of the market.
