"The 2008 Ford F-150 Lariat Limited was announced weeks ago by Ford, but the Oval only just got around to releasing a couple of photos of it.

We don't know what took them so long, seeing as this Lariat's a bit of a looker. Sporting a White Sand Metallic finish that also trims the grillework and the factory 22-inchers, the snappy-looking SuperCrew doesn't stop there.

06 Interior Shown
Chrome running boards, gray headlight bezels, smoked taillamp lenses, a two-tone leather-trimmed interior and some other cabin accents round out the new limited package......"

I would go with this instead of the Lincoln LT truck

The blessing of the current generation F-150 is that it is the only good looking truck in the market. Other may be newer and the F-150 may need some updates but in the good looking department this truck is king.

The current truck is nearly 4 years old and still looks and sells as well as it does, thats impressive. I had an F-150 FX4 and loved driving it so I understand all it's positives and few negatives. There are times I felt it's weight, usually under hard acceleration, but rarely. The next upgrade will easily correct any remaining negatives and boast some great new positives as well, but this Lariat strikes a great pose.

In that perspective I believe that Toyota and in a lesser degree GM lost an opportunity to take on the F-150. The Tundra is flopping for many reasons, its ugly look being only one of them, but a really important one. The Silverado as the same problem in more subtle ways than the Toyota truck. Its big nose is obviously an afterthough and if I am mistaken, then even worse since it looks like one. One would think that good design would be goal rather simple to achieve, but in this department is proving to be quite elusive for the F-150 competitors. Gladly, good design is also becoming an F-series tradition.

Hey!!!!

Check out that 5-bar grill on the '48 Ford.

Heritage is everywhere in this business.
That's what the Asians don't have on their side.

SobeSVT, I know you are no GM fan, but, I think the Silvarado/Sierra will seriously challenge F150 for the sales king. Its by far the best truck now out there, until perhaps 2009. Ford cannot afford to ignore the general, and you bet, there will a GM MCE come 2009.
I do not take Le General lightly. I test drove a base Silvarado and I was very very impressed. Its a great truck

I am not denying the Silverado is a great truck but a beauty it isn't. The gigantic front end looks terribly out of place (for the right proportions of a GMT900 vehicle look no further than the Tahoe), and probably was due to the ultra-successful F-150's gigantic proportions.

As to who has the better truck, all I will tell you is don't count the F-150 out. There is a new F-150 coming out next year and Ford isn't pulling any punches. No one knows trucks like Ford. It is the F-150 the truck that Toyota benchmarks, not Silverado, not RAM, F-150. The T-100 was an F-150 homage, so was the first Tundra and so is the current one.

When it comes to engineering, I take GM trucks seriously.
When it comes to styling, I take them very lightly. I have yet to see a great truck design come from them. Lots of good ones though.

Doesnt the F-Series have around a 15% lead in sales vs the Silverado and it was just redesigned compared to a 4 year old F-150 design? I cant wait to see the new one, because now customers will have plenty of light duty trucks to chose from and it should be interesting to see which truck comes out on top.

I think today's truck buyer has a plethora of choices, but I don't see a clear winner in every category. Trucks sure have come a long way, and no truck is a loser, with so many competitive choices. But I think the next big milestone for light duty will be clean Diesel. I love the idea of a smooth, quiet and clean burning Diesel that gets upper 20's. Ford and GM are so close that I am already planning my next vehicle purchase based on it.
