My Ford Touch and the Dual clutch transmissions in the Fiesta and Focus are killing the numbers imo. I have lost track of all the updates to both. At some point you have to wonder just how both of these were worth it. Its a sore spot with me and I want no part of either.

So much about Ford wanting to stay on top of the list. WRONG. I poke fun about Chrysler products being on the bottom of the list. Now Ford is below Chrysler. Quantity before quality must be Ford new motto.

Over the years I have noticed this study favors older products... hence the perennial Toyota success.. their platforms even when said to be 'all new' are usually heavily re-engineered old platforms.. and a lot of components (like cruise control/ gearboxes etc ) are ancient...

That makes a lot of sense. Ford took a chance so to speak with some new stuff that was unproven and its come back to bite them. Its part of the process I know. I also have to wonder about out sourcing so much. Getrag and who ever else does not take the blows so much but Ford takes the hit. Im sure there is plenty of blame to go around but Ford needs to get a few things ironed out.

This doesn't seem to hurt sales...yet.

Hard to say if it ever will. People are willing to forgive when technology is advancing.

J.D. Power & Associates released its widely watched annual new-car quality survey this week, and it came with some surprises. . . .

Ford's overall quality is in fact up sharply, at least in terms of old-fashioned mechanical failures. Bennie Fowler, Ford's group vice president of global quality, said this week that Ford's warranty repair rate had improved by about 40% over year-ago numbers. And Ford did very well -- beating out Honda -- in the latest edition of J.D. Power's longer-term reliability study, released in February.

Fowler also said that warranty claims on MyFord Touch had declined since Ford rolled out the upgrade. That's good news, but problems could continue for a while: As Edmunds analyst Jessica Caldwell pointed out earlier this week, her company's data shows that "the age of vehicle trade-ins is older than ever before, which means that new car buyers are now being exposed to in-cabin technology that's far more advanced than what they used in their previous vehicles."...

This is a price that must be paid for rapid innovation. Ford seems to be doing a good job at leveraging their innovation for public goodwill; enough so that I suspect it is offsetting this quality problem.
