Mercedes has officially unveiled the CLS Shooting Brake.

Described as an "unprecedented version of a sports car with five seats and a large tailgate," the model has a sporty design which borrows a few cues from the 2010 Shooting Brake concept. Notable highlights include LED headlights, a sloping roofline and a tailgate-mounted spoiler.

The cabin echoes the standard model and features leather upholstery, wood trim and metallic accents. The boot holds 590-1550 liters (20.8-54.7 cubic feet) of luggage and can be equipped with a designo wooden floor that features cherry and oak trim as well as aluminum load rails.

Under the hood, four different engines are available. The CLS 250 CDI BlueEFFICIENCY has a 2.1-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 204 PS (150 kW / 201 hp) and 500 Nm (369 lb-ft) of torque. It enables the model to accelerate from 0-100 km/h in 7.8 seconds, before hitting a top speed of 235 km/h (146 mph).

I like the way they hid the C-pillar under the glass
that's about it ... at least on the outside.

I approve of:
- the wood lined luggage compartment
- automatically opening tailgate
(both of which have been on Ford/Lincoln production or concept vehicles)
&
...Under the hood, four different engines are available...
offering a wide(r) range of engines is something I really hope Fomoco does for LINCOLN...
...not just for foreign markets

Mixed feelings about this MB. It looks more like the R Class was out in the sun too long and is starting to melt. Unless that is what the designers had in mind??

Makes you wonder about how far ahead the MKT Concept was in design. The MKT Concept was more of a "Personal Wagon" (than what we actually got) that would fit in this segment better.

I will peak at mission lincoln...
