Hello All.....I was at Barnes & Noble last night looking for a few holiday gifts and noticed that the Feb 2013 issue of Collectible Automobile Magazine was there. Of course I had to look and see. There's an interesting article (with pictures/drawings)of development of the 1970-74 Lincoln Continental sedans/coupe. At one point there was an early clay with stacked headlamps like Cadillac. I guess in 25 -30 years we will be reading about the then new 2013 MKZ complete with pictures and drawings showing different design ideas.

I would rather it be much lower to the ground and not have a tall profile. It might actually not be a bad ride.

    YellowZx5, just-imho
    Lincoln should target Tesla!!
    (not buy them)

It seemed like a meat idea to make Tesla into a mass production product to bring the cost down. Plus the Tesla brand offers technology and class that Lincoln needs.

liked the ad myself and while the Sinatra music is a tad dated it does help convey the newfound elegance lincoln is trying to achieve

    ...MKC, will...reach U.S. dealers in early 2014...
    ...redesigned 2015 MKX...autumn of 2014...
    ...redesigned 2016 MKS...spring of 2015...

...Lincoln is also considering - but has not approved for production - several products in addition to the four core models, said the analysts familiar with Ford's line-up.
For 2016, a luxury rear-wheel-drive coupe could share its underpinnings with the Ford Mustang and could be assembled at Ford's Flat Rock plant in Michigan....

...Although they are being extensively redesigned, the 2015 MKX and the 2015 MKS will share the same midsize platform with the 2013 MKZ and its sibling, the 2013 Ford Fusion, according to the analysts familiar with Lincoln's plans...

...In addition to those four core products, Lincoln plans to introduce a mildly revised version of its big Navigator utility vehicle in the autumn of 2013, said a company executive familiar with the brand's launch schedule.

The 2014 Navigator is expected to use Ford's powerful EcoBoost V6 engine instead of the current 5.4-liter V8, but will retain its truck-based body-on-frame architecture and ample size. Another carryover model is the MKT full size crossover, which received a modest update earlier this year, but is not slated for any major changes over the next three years, according to the analysts.

Lincoln is considering a near-luxury compact sedan which, like the MKC crossover, would be based on the global compact platform, for 2016 or later.

If approved, the small sedan likely would be sold in the United States and China, where the brand is being launched in 2014, said a company executive familiar with Lincoln's plans.

Now the MKR is something I could definitely see myself driving, and I dream of the day when Lincoln has V8 RWD offerings.

I don't have a strong opinion about Mr. Horbury
tho I DO have a strong opinion about designers/designs in general and that is:
the "Approvers" cause most of the production styling problems/letdowns
that AND the MBA-approach to what looks good

    that said
imho one reason today's designers don't compare well to the past ones is:
    the Designer colleges -not that many of them- brainwashing the students into not-that-many style-theories;
a lot like cloned-crops - one disease or varmint and a BIG chunk of the world goes hungry
