but wouldn't care about not having MFT
I currently drive a C1 platform Focus Mk2 which was also the Focus for ASEAN markets, it's a nice solid car.
The Mk3 Global Focus' platform is actually also derived from the C1 platform, this explains why there are a lot of platform similarities.

Ford Pushing Focus to #1 in China for 2013

The Ford Focus was the #1 selling 'nameplate' in China(World's largest auto market) for 2012. But for 2013, Ford Focus has been hanging at #2 selling passenger car for the past 7 months, behind the #1 VW Lavida(Jetta).

Month after month, with heavy incentives, the Lavida has been outselling the Focus with a year to date lead YTD of 211,567 to 185,697, which gives the Livida a 25,870 lead. But for July Ford turned on the incentives to push the Focus ahead of the Lavida 31,499 to 25,610.

But it is the 'nameplate' where the Focus sales lead ends. China is such a large market, automakers can sell the same car, with minor design changes, under different names to double or triple their sales. Along with selling previous generations of the same car at different price points, with different names.

Which is why VW also has two other vehicles in the top 10, both are also version of the Jetta 4-door as the Sagitar at #3(116k YTD)and Bora #4(137k YTD). With over 464k versions of the Jetta sold in China YTD, VW is clearly in the lead with Ford playing catch up with a late entry into the China market.

Ford offers the current generation of the Focus sedan and hatch, along with the past generation as the Focus Classic. However, Ford's plan seems to be following what's been successful for VW. Then in 2017 when the next gen Focus is launched globally, the new model will also join the current two models already sold in China. Which means Ford will have 3 version of the Focus to compete with the top selling 3 versions of the Jetta.

Which also means Ford will still be able to claim the #1 selling 'nameplate' in China and the world for 2013, as long as Ford outsells the Lavida.
