    Re: Spied: 2014 Lincoln MKC

It does look a little rounder compared to the sharp edges of the concept but i still believe it will be 95% of the concept. The roof had to increase because of headroom and safety requirements, the side mirrors are going to be bigger and of course it was going to have door handles, none of that surprises me. I just wish the door handles are body color and not black and they keep the molding on the bottom of the doors. I'm impressed what I see so far.

And like Germeezy1 said, this is the standard or my opinion, the minimum base on how Lincolns should be differentiated from Fords going further.

    Good job so far Ford.

I'm very happy with how it turned out. Even though it's not exactly like the concept, it's close enough and far more upscale looking than the Escape. Anyone still saying it's just a rebadged Escape is simply biased against Lincoln and not judging the MKC on it's own merits. Even though it seems likely, I'm holding my breath until they officially announce a hybrid version. I want this to be my next car, but it needs to be a hybrid to make that happen.

There is already a forum up at Lincoln MKC Forum

My feelings on concept cars is either go very forward looking in that the car showcases an overall style, but not a specific car, I'm thinking EVOS here. The other option is a lightly worked over look at a production car, here I'm thinking MKZ. Nobody is disappointed by either because they never expected the EVOS in a showroom, and because the MKZ was only different in minor details. When they are so close, yet so far as with the MKC concept and the MKT concepts it is hard to accept the real thing because you've seen how impossibly great it could have been!

I'm sure the MKC will be a great car with good looks, it's just that the concept was perfect from an appearance perspective.
I'm sorry I didn't mean for you to take my comment to heart that I was referring to you, I truly wasn't. I was just being snarky back to wingsnut lol. I didn't even get to read what you had to say at first. Still I think Lincoln's future will be better than most think it will!

I think it can be done as long as the proportions are right.

I will give Lincoln credit that everything in recent years that is all new, is nicely differentiated from it's Ford stable mate.

    MKT
    MKZ
    and now, MKC

Flexible manufacturing installed in recent years, allows that.

Could they set up a new Wixom-esque plant just for Lincoln? Build all the FWD based vehicles in one location and train the assembly line workers to ensure products are built to the highest standards? Sort of like how Lexus/Toyota does at their plant in Japan. Or would that be a logistics cluster****? I'm thinking that since Ford itself is doing PHENOMENAL sales, they need all the capacity for Fords, why not set up a dedicated facility for Lincoln?

Plenty is possible and Ford has the resources to do plenty and with enough time, they should achieve plenty.

But I have to side with several here that think Lincoln will fail.
Engineering "true luxury" it seems, is to complicated for them.

That could happen down the road as Lincoln gains more momentum. Right now the cost of rebuilding is shouldered on the sales of Ford brands and must share factories with those Ford brands.

But in the near future as more Lincoln models share new platforms with each other, like new MKX and current MKZ, new MKC and the new small sedan, new MKS and new Continental, it becomes more possible.

But from a manufacturing cost, economies of scale perspective, it still makes more sense to share lower volume, higher priced Lincoln manufacturing with it's shared platform higher volume, lower priced Ford model.

Ford factories are huge, and the Lincoln production could be a mile or more away from the Ford production.....at the same plant.

Remember, this reinvention of Lincoln has been just over a year. And at the two year mark, we will have the new MKZ, MKZ Hybrid and the new MKC and MKC Hybrid along with a refreshed Navigator. With a new MKX launching next year and the MKS to concept out. So a lot has happened in a very sort time, and we should see Lincoln brand sales continue to climb.

    Re: Spied: 2014 Lincoln MKC

I feel like the only powertrains they need to offer in the MKC are the 2.oT and the Hybrid. Any V6 would likely just be overkill and unneeded. I hope they offer AWD with the Hybrid like they did with the Escape Hybrid a few years ago.
