FORD MUSTANG BEST-SELLING SPORTS CAR IN GERMANY IN MARCH Ford
COLOGNE, Germany, April 8, 2016 – Ford Mustang beat its rivals to become Germany’s No.1 top-selling sports coupe in March, according to data published by German Federal Motor Transport Authority, KBA.
“Germans have fallen in love with the Mustang. Driving a Mustang GT on the Autobahn is a one of a kind experience for people who love cars,” said Wolfgang Kopplin, managing Director Ford Germany.
Ecoboost starts at 38,000€, GT at 43,000€. Those are, seriously impressive numbers for a great halo car. Chevrolet shouldn't even bother trying, Ford owns the market. Think about it, this could add nearly 10,000 sales this year, and that's just one country. Will we see a 150,000 Mustang year?
Ford has 13,000 EU orders it cannot fulfill, because the suppliers cannot supply the performance parts quick enough.
Hopefully waiting customers don't lose their patience.
EDIT: Just to add from a UK article date March 30, 2016 "UK sales director Kevin Griffin clarified the waiting times issue, saying: "A Mustang bought today would be built in September and delivered by a dealer a couple of months later. The cars are built in batches, for homologation reasons.
We expect to make around 4000-5000 per year"
I had the privilege of driving a GT 50th Anniversary (Kona Blue) last week here in Estonia. A friend of mine who drives a GT-R is in the process of replacing the GT-R with this Mustang. The GT was imported here and has been used for journalists test drives and is for sale now.
I was blown away how great this car is to drive, and can understand the demand for it over here.
BTW, the Ford dealerships here still have not received their Mustangs.
Here is one of the Estonian journalists video review of the GT 50th Anniversary.
Estonia... think about that, sports car fan in Estonia areas interested in the Mustang, and can buy one there now. It shows the reach of the Mustang, and how having one strong global brand like 'Ford' pays off big time.
I'd love to see some chart of the top 20 Mustang markets around the world and the monthly volumes of each... already if you add Germany and Australia and the UK, you have nearly 20,000 units to add to the tally. I think 150,000 is easily doable for Mustang in 2016!
Mustang sold 122,349 in the US and 6933 in Canada for a total of 129,282 for 2015. Now adding in all the other markets, over 100 total to roll out, Mustang should be pushing 200k units for 2016.
This is before right-hand drive was available and should put Mustang global sales over 200k for 2016 with just a few global markets rolled out to date.
Let the Mustang go up against the 'C' Class: AMG vs Shelby - Does Ford sell the Shelby in Germany and why not?
If you want a Lincoln in Convertible/Coupe form, 107 inch wheelbase just doesn't do justice - some of those Germans
have long legs... very nice, long legs.
Thought I'd post a few pics of some Mustangs I came across in Tallinn today, and a rare Maverick & Chevy.
And a very rare catch (see if anyone notices it)
