Edge is not being assembled in China, its being imported into China from Canada.

The Edge is currently on a modified version of the chasis underpinning the Fusion, one can assume we might see a successor based on the next gen Fusion/Mondeo platform. Nobody really knows when the Fusion replacement will be here, but probalby by the 2013MY. So perhaps in 2014 we'll see an Edge/MKX successor.

Whenever it is replaced, let's hope the Edge loses about 500 lbs. Escape hopefully will shed weight too.

It is only slightly larger, and still less cargo than CRV/RAV4. Considering about 10,000 people per month choose to spend more money to buy the Edge...I'd say it is needed.

New Escape is actually smaller than old Escape in some dimensions. Certainly not bigger.

New Edge is the best looking vehicle to come out of Ford.
I can't wait.
