    Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

My idea is this (Im not sure about the letters)
Mka small size hatchback (like 1 series, A4, A class)
mkc small size CUV (like the x3, q5)
mkz (RWD) small sedan, coupe and wagon (like 3 series, C class)
mks (RWD) midsize sedan, coupe and wagon (like 5 series, E class, CTS)
mkl (RWD) big size sedan (like S class, 7 series) and coupe ( like the CL)
Mkx midsize CUV (only AWD) like the Cayenne, M class
Aviator (only Awd) like the Q7, GL
Navigator full size luxury SUV, something like the Range Rover
standard full Led lamps with auto high beams
8 and 9 speed transmission with paddle shifters
Lincoln drive control: CCD and EPAS
    Active park assist
    adaptive cruise control
    lane-keeping system
    Blis with cross traffic alert
    THX certified audio system
Sync with a better version of MyLincoln touch
    Inflatable rear seat safety belts
    Around view camera
    Head up display
night view assist in the mks, mkl and navigator
    traffic sign recognition
lincoln perfomance line (something like AMG) 5.5L v8 ecoboost, 5.0L v8 ecoboost
Adjustable and heated powefold memory exterior mirrors with approach lamps
Navigator: height adjustable suspension with terrain management (something like the range rover) and hill descent control and hill ascent control, also in the standard wheelbase they can copy the second row of the new range rover

    Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

That's a good lineup, joseodiaga4! But hopefully that MK nomenclature will be gone. In order to do all of those great things, Ford is going to have to spit out a lot more cash if they really want a well executed luxury brand to compete with the world's finest luxury brands.

Haven't thought of the cossovers/SUVs yet.
    a Fine start, AM222
looking forward to your thoughts on CuvSuvs (& any other bodystyles wink)

    hope you don't mind, joseodiaga4, I'm bolding and using near-names I've used before;
just to make your list easier for me to take in
& since you have F-Awd and Rwd, sorted cars from CuvSuvs

MKE a small size hatchback (like 1 series, A4, A class)
Zodiac (RWD) small sedan, coupe and wagon (like 3 series, C class)
Conti-swb (RWD) midsize sedan, coupe and wagon (like 5 series, E class, CTS)
Conti-lwb (RWD) big size sedan (like S class, 7 series) and coupe ( like the CL)
MKC small size CUV (like the x3, q5)

    I don't see a huge spending increase

I expect more "action" in the Lux segment by FoMoCo after Mr. Mulally is gone - esp if Mark Fields takes over
    but
I really don't believe FoMoCo wants to re-invent PAG-or-Jag...been there, done that.
    So
imho to achieve what they want, a truly huge investment isn't even needed...
    ...whether that will lead to what forum posters will call success is a very different question imho...or even if the plan will be sustainably profitable;
but I do believe Ford's Lux-Hobby can be made to break even indefinitely.

    Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

found only this evening & just for discussion
(imho Mercury IS the Acura competitor, Not&Never Lincoln!)
but the article had enough 'points' to post for a slow news day/night/weekend/MONTH...4 (FOUR!) interminable weeks yet until NAIAS...

Acura seeks a solution to its identity crisis - L.A.Times
    By Jerry Hirsch
    November 28, 2012

When Honda's Acura brand shows off its new flagship RLX sedan at the Los Angles Auto Show on Wednesday, it will be confronted with a marketing conundrum — how to brand the car as a luxury rival to BMW or Lexus rather than just a more expensive Honda.

    It's a problem of Honda's own making...
...a "tweener" brand: upscale but not quite luxury...

..."Acura is not defined, other than to be a step up from Honda," said Thilo Koslowski, an automotive analyst at research firm Gartner Inc. "It needs a place within the premium domain. They need to be unique and differentiated."

Honda officials need look no further than the L.A. Auto Show to see the stiffening competition in selling cars to the affluent. Volkswagen's Audi division is rolling out four new models with powerful and efficient diesel engines, an increasingly sought-after drivetrain. [b]BMW is showing off two fast and slick concepts, an electric and a plug-in hybrid. Jaguar and Land Rover, newly owned by Indian automaker Tata Motors, are together bringing three new models: a sport convertible, a flagship sedan and the latest Range Rover.

In all, 42 auto brands are bringing hundreds of new models to the show this week...
...The stakes are high for all the automakers bringing fresh models to one of the world's leading car shows. But no car means more to any automaker than the RLX means to Acura.

The RLX will define a brand that needs an identity. Other luxury leaders have well-established personalities...
...Mendel wants to position Acura as a "smart luxury" brand. Mendel defines that as efficient and useful technology, wrapped in an elegant package that doesn't scream excess...

...Powering the RLX, which will go on sale this spring as a 2014 model, is a new 310-horsepower direct-injected V-6 that's expected to get fuel economy ratings of 20 miles per gallon in the city, 31 on the highway and 24 combined. Honda has not provided specific pricing but did say the sticker prices will start at less than $50,000.

Later in 2013, Acura will offer an RLX all-wheel-drive hybrid producing 370 horsepower and achieving 30 mpg in all conditions.

Hoping to brand Acura as having "efficient technology," as Mendel put it, the RLX will offer safety features that protect passengers and prevent collisions. These include lane departure warning, forward collision warning and automatic braking, as well as adaptive cruise control that keeps the vehicle at a constant distance behind other cars and various blind-spot information systems, such as a rear-view camera.

"Acura has always lived off the crumbs of Honda," Mendel said. "Now it needs to be a real destination brand."...

...For now, the RLX will carry Acura's identity. That starts with a cleaned-up dashboard, replacing one much-criticized for offering too many buttons and complicated controls.

"It is a massive simplification and will be more intuitive to use," Mendel said.

Sometime in the next three years, Acura will also launch the next NSX, last produced in 2005. {BUT} The new version will be an all-wheel-drive hybrid supercar with styling evocative of a Ferrari or Lamborghini.

"NSX will be the sizzle for the brand," Mendel said. "You will think that anybody who can do that can make a real cool passenger car."

I was tempted to re-write all that with "Lincoln" and assorted MucK-names
but didn't think it was necessary to see similarities
Not becuz I'm too lazy - so I settled for bolding

    Re: Mission: LINCOLN!

think it might have been reposting an old spyphoto-based Montego chop elsewhere last night
    but

decided to finish a minimalist LTC, LincolnTouringCar experiment (only semi-serious)
a large sedan not too carefully stretched to the MKT's wheelbase (maybe a bit more)
using NO MKS sheetmetal but swiping some graphics from the new Z

    for comparisons,
the top of the line Cadillac XTS Platinum (I think)

    &
an ancient TC replacement from the early days of FiN/FomocoNews

    thread Link

dunno if I'm in a rut or just amazingly consistent
(just thought, I shoulda tried using the Jaguar XJ as a donor ...edit2, after checking NetCarShow's pix, think the XJ would make a better Mercury)

    edit1
forgot to include a thumb-LINK to my favorite

I still love the donor's side-styling but DO think it'd need updating for production now

I think that Max Wolff has to be the exterior design manager, like he was in cadillac, not Solomon Song
