Just as certain as sales are dropping, Ford needs to better differentiate its premium Lincoln offerings from its lesser Ford-badged vehicles. Ford says changes are on the way with seven new models over the next three years, but one of those vehicles might be something completely unexpected.

According to a report from Road & Track, Ford is at least discussing the possibility of a two-seat, mid-engine sports car for its Lincoln brand. The two-seater would be positioned as the brand’s flagship, but wouldn’t necessarily be an all-out performer.

I would agree with Sobe. While the thought of a Lincoln sports car is stimulating and boggling of the senses,(so would a new Continental btw) I would agree that first the core product needs the attention so when the sports car arrives, people will be drawn to the showroom to see not only the sports car but all the new and exciting good stuff. Then you have something to sell. If they did it now and people went to the showroom and saw the current stuff, not many would buy in. We can assume this is long range planning once the new revised/improved/defined products arrive.

Did you know that back in the '80's there was a concept Lincoln mid engine 4-door sedan called Quicksilver. It started life as the Ford Quicksilver designed by Ghia studios of Italy(Ford owned Coachbuilder) then this vehicle became a Lincoln. Imagine a mid-engine sedan like this along with the 2-seater mid engine sports car. Heart rate is elevating here.....tha thump tha thump ......lol

there is no way in hell they would have this ready in the next year.. like I said above this would not be ready probably untill after new 7 vehicles arive

With their latest flexible manufacturing tools, Ford can switch from a C class car to a full size SUV in a very short span - perhaps a week.

When used with same chassis, much easier.
