The rules of this thread are quite simple. NO CAR PICTURES
I only want abstract distillations and conceptions of what ideally is lincoln to you. Dont be to picky if you see something you like post it. To me Lincoln should present a bold elegance. simplicity and wonderment. It should take "brand as a magician" to its logical conclusion "object as amazment"
for example View attachment 3261 View attachment 3262
Now you dont have to use pictures of architecture and design like I did. Its just that im more comfortable expressing myself this way seeing as it is my background.
again no need to deliberate over this for hours
&
interesting thread BUT Do you work for Lincoln? ...or Lincoln's FACEBOOK?
( pet peeve: imho if it doesn't "move", it's a misleading metaphor )
so
tho I don't have a lot of time at the mo
here're a few ideas off the top of my head
Lol no I dont work for lincoln or lincolns facebook page Im simply interested in seeing what people who have a strong definition of lincoln in their minds opinion on what makes a lincoln. Which is really a ruse to help inspire me to finish a lincoln concept i've been working on over the summer as part of my automotive design portfolio. So I guess technically I could eventually work for lincoln.

my ultra-slow puter is preventing my finding just the right pix for a "progression" so, descriptors:
• Art Nouveau - winged nymph
• Art Deco - Maria from 'Metropolis'
• The Statue of Liberty
&
• Stephanie Germanotta
** extra points for fraud
edit/ps

you ought be able to swipe any verbiage your project needs from there

I am amazed that you think like that. You have the talent for a designer. I am getting my bachelors and finding ideas like you did to create something unique is what we do as a concept design goal. Great skills. I think of , gold, pearls, silver, cream, a mansion, the red carpet, and pure luxury. Getting off topic a little, but when I see a Rolls Royce, I think of Lincoln. To me it looks like a luxury Lincoln. Like Mercedes and Maybach
Thanks for the intrest and responses guys. Im just working on my portfolio to get into a design school (preferably ccs as it is closest to home in Nebraska.) I still have a ways to go on my portfolio I have a lot of projects in progress but none that I feel comfortable showing off yet. Recently returned my intrest to my lincoln concept and wanted to make it more adventurous and unique as opposed to what it was. Design and cars have been in my blood since I was little. My mom is an interior designer and my father is a Mechanic so in retrospect my intrest in automotive design was a natural occurrence.
but I just can't relate architecture pix to cars without a LOT of help
fer ex:
the linked one I posted is really just about the swoop & lightness of the stairway
& the curlycues would be at most texture on the materials...
thats fine what Im looking for in these pics is exactly that a visual representation from which i can extract line, surface, color/texture vocabularies from.
again,
very pretty pictures, F.L. - I *Like*
but still don't see how any of the "Shapes" relate to Lincoln.
Think maybe I should just butt-out of this topic
as it actually aggravates me - same for Lincoln's facebook

the imho-potential for misunderstanding is related to a computer-focus-group I attended around 1996.
I chose a photo of the Taj Mahal to represent Hewlett-Packard
but...BUT
my intended meaning, which I had to verbalize to the group was:
"yeah right/nice...but WHAT HAVE YOU DONE FOR ME LATELY?"

Lincoln should be elegant simplicity, minimalist luxury: clean and simply lines. Clear, weel iluminated interior spaces, with real wood, leather and chrome.Advanced technology for the drivetrains and interior equipment.Very simple and voice-commanded controls. Modern and futuristic uncomplicated and graceful curved shapes.... But who care... ask Mr Wolff what is his idea for Lincoln

Lincoln = Elegant and sophisticated luxury, great taste which is neither understated or overly so. Seeking a clientele that can afford anything he or she wishes ~ but chooses Lincoln.
SFbreh, Interesting that you bring up Lincoln is: modern. That was the ad campaign from 1952 - 1955. The campaign was Modern Living, Modern Driving. The ads showed Lincolns with the modern structures at the time. Perhaps this campaign should be updated to today's "Modern Living" for the "Bespoke" program that we have been hearing so much about but have not seen anything yet.
Great pics guys. school just started for me today so i might have less time to check in but Id like to keep this thread alive. just keep posting pics and discuss and all that jazz.
This is a local art museum and im putting this here more for future reference. you wont "get" this picture because you guys have never been there but this definitely has a mesmerizing and magical atmosphere when inside.
