First drive review: Mercedes-Benz E63 AMG
More power and greater handling finesse make Mercedes E63 AMG the pick of the four-door performance brigade

What is it?

It only seems like yesterday that Mercedes-Benz launched the latest E63 AMG, and with it a new twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 engine. But, in a sign of just how quickly things move in the automotive world, we're already being served up a facelifted version of the rapid performance saloon and estate pairing.

The new model is significant as it is the first AMG model to benefit from a new design lineage we're told will be reflected on all upcoming models from Mercedes-Benz's performance car off-shoot.

It's immediately evident when you lay eyes on the new E63 AMG, whose aggressive new front end gives it an even more distinctive look than its predecessor and more clearly separates it visually from the E-class upon which is it based and produced alongside in Germany.

The big news, however, concerns the engine. The E63 AMG's twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8 has never lacked for reserves, but that hasn't deterred Mercedes-Benz's performance car off-shoot from providing the new model with a touch more as sweetner to tempt prospective buyers.

When Ford will have a car like this? Is not difficult to do it: take the Mustang platform, put a 4 door ( o a 4 door coupe) body on top, give some luxury inside, and you have an E63 competitor.... the current Mustang Boss and Shelby are M3 coupe competitors.

I could easily be wrong but think the E-class is only getting (public) attention recently becuz the $-class is so far out of reach for most $hopper$
& probably more car than most want anyway

&btw
the E-class is the exact same length as the Fusion...tho 3" wider
imho the Mustang is out as a competitor basis
but maybe when FLincMoCo gets around to the CD4+3 (esp if my crazy RWD idea happens), THEN Lincoln could come up with a car to rival it ... tho the Z with Nano-EB could imho come close!!

although...
The E63 AMG's twin-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8
imho a 5.0EB would still be necessary to take on the AMG

Although tangentially they are competitors in actuality the Boss 302, and Shelby are simply not in the same class as the BMW M3. Ford already makes an Australian market sedan with a forced induction 5.0 liter V8 which can easily accommodate an uprated Ecoboost style FPV supercharged Coyote or a detuned 5.8 Trinity engine from the 2013 GT500.

The E class is a mid luxury car, and as such it is well within reach of many buyers especially if leasing is an option. This car is getting so much press due to its redesign, and the fact that it appears that MB has made the ascension to the top of the class with its latest revisions including AWD for the USDM. Cadillac will have a direct competitor to this car that is already in development, and I would dream of a Lincoln that could also compete in this rarefied air class.

This car is a once removed Lincoln LS that also utilizes a direct injection 5.0 liter supercharged engine with an Eaton Twin Vortices R1900 supercharger. Ford can easily match this car with its engine which already is available with a warrantied Eaton Twin Vortices R2300 supercharger or utilize a lower boost 2013 GT500 5.8 Trinity variant. Interestingly enough Ford also offers a " Grabber Blue " color not utterly divergent from this car's quite attractive hue.

Recent reviews from many automotive publications talk about how good are the Mustang Boss and Shelby GT 500. Some of those publications say that the M3 is the only car that is in the same leage as this 2 Mustangs.... and i think the same. This chassis and car only lack of some refinement and luxury touch to compete directly with the Mercedes

Your Mercedes picture is very nice.i also really like Mercedes because Mercedes Benz is the most loved car of all ages. The luxury and technology used in these cars set the standards for sophistication.it covers several domains in India, which included local production of Mercedes-Benz cars, importing Mercedes cars, commercial vehicle operations, global sourcing of auto components, research and development of automotive technology. Furthermore, Mercedes is also involved in many social oriented programs across many parts of India. To conclude, “Nobody can deny the fact that Mercedes is a great car to buy and drive on the roads."
