    NOVEMBER 27, 2012
    Car News China

The Chang’an-Ford joint venture will launch a new sub-brand this year. It will be called ‘Jia yue’, best translated as ‘Good Leap’. The logo, above, consists of two wings. The first car of Jia Yue will be a rebadged Ford Focus Classic. The Ford Focus Classic is the last-gen Ford Focus which is still in production in China, next to the new Focus.

This would make a great Mercury logo. It almost looks like a stylized 'M' , and Mercury was the 'winged messenger'.

    EXACTLY my first thought, Logan
I even see a slight resemblance to a 'medalion' logo I made up in Mission:Mercury
(also see a bit of Daewoo's old logo)

Re: New Ford sub-brand for China will be called ‘Jia Yue’

via 1931Chevy @ GMI: Ford preparing China Only sub-brand they should had called Mercury
"Ford and joint-venture partner Changan have confirmed they are preparing to launch a new sub-brand in China called Jiayue.

Jiayue's first model is expected to be a re-badged version of the second-generation Ford Focus that went out of production across Europe in 2011. Ford still builds the second-gen Focus in China but it hopes the Jiayue-badged version will appeal to a younger audience by offering a lower price and a different set of standard features.

Power for Jiayue's version of the Focus is expected to come from an outdated 1.8-liter four-cylinder engine that will send 122 horsepower and 118 lb-ft. of torque to the front wheels via either a manual or a semi-automatic gearbox. A diesel engine will not be offered because oil-burning passenger cars are almost non-existent in China."

...Jiayue's yet-unnamed second-gen Focus will greet the public for the first time at the Chengdu Motor Show that will open its doors to the public next September. When it goes on sale, the sedan will carry a base price of approximately 90,000 yuans, a sum that converts to roughly $14,500. The Ford-badged variant of the second-gen Focus retails for 99,800 yuans (about $16,000).

At the time of writing Ford and Changan are not planning on distributing Jiayue-badged cars outside of China.

    What's in a Name?
The team "jiayue" can be loosely translated to "a leap forward" in Chinese. The company's emblem (pictured above) is a Ford-esque oval adorned by a pair of wing on a black background.
