I am not sure that a marketing direction that involves Lincoln's past is the direction to move in when all of Lincoln's vehicles are quite divergent in many ways from traditional Lincolns. I sincerely hope that this Renaissance of a Renaissance is not Ford's way of slowly but surely shuttering the brand that in many ways is a sister to the Cadillac brand.
Exactly. This marketing campaign does not and will not make sense with this continuation of poor product. Nothing about the new MKZ is worth comparing with the brand's historic products. They claim their being innovative with the push button gear selector and retractable glass roof. How is it innovative when it has been achieved before by Chrysler and Porsche? This is a very insubstantial path they're taking.

not between but by using the MKT's longer-yet wheelbase (all imho)
originally there was a big brother to the MKS planned, codename = E386
so
I'm hoping it's a sedan replacement for the MKT (& TownCar) - maybe (still) with styling inspired by the MKT-CONCEPT
...wish it'd also have a 5.0v8
but even without would take some heat off the never-a-flagship-MKS
just-imho No
- the new Z is close to the size of the R
- AND uses most of its sheetmetal
so LincStang should be smaller
& Continental bigger as a MKS replacement
for sure!!

Well lets just do a quick analysis here. The new Z has something in common with the '60's Continental. Before you all jump on me and say NO, hear me out. Yes, The '60's Continental had innovative styling for the time. If you watch one of these videos you will see the comparison of center-open doors and the pano-roof with the same female models. Both of these features are unique in that they are different. How advanced were the '60's Continentals? Did they have AWD? Fuel Injection? Push button gear selectors? 45mpg's or even 35mpg's? The '60's Continentals had the distinct body style, mega room for 6 passengers and the "Continental Mystique" that came with it. That's it. The new Z is light years ahead in technology and is setting the stage for things to come. Remember that the next MKS should build on this and as new models are introduced, everthing comes together.
Look carefully regarding the use of the "Mustang-Type" vehicle in one of the segments. You see an overlay over the Mustang-like body showing the Lincoln-like rear fenders including chrome strips. This looks like some kind of tease being we all want a RWD Lincoln again. It's a sign of what could happen.

MkR as a RWD car, MkT is the Town Car, MkS as a luxury Sedan, MkC as a an Entry level car, and the MkA or Aviator as the Escape twin but a better looking Lincoln. The MkX would be in there as well but styled different as well.
Lincoln needs to be reborn from the ashes, but they also need to be desperately rebooted into something better.
Lincoln could just buy Tesla and replace the MkS with the Model S? Lol. Just a thought. Maybe the roadster as the MkR?

reHi, YellowZx5
AGREE about "reboot"ing Lincoln into something better.
&
Tesla and some forms of electrification across most of the lineup (all drivetrains) is very much on my mind
