It’s not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear. Dreams take over. Yet wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. MERCURY. It's inevitable.

That's pretty much the case.
The fantasy? Well I guess the new MKZ was overhyped as something new and different, at the end it still uses the old "entry-level luxury sedan-based on a mainstream FWD family sedan formula".
The new MKZ is a nice car, but this formula is more Mercury than Lincoln.
I think a Lincoln needs to be extra special since it's supposed to be Ford's real full-on luxury brand.
I guess part of the prestige of owning a luxury car is knowing that your $50K ride is not based on a $21K FWD sedan.

And I think this is the real point, the vast majority will love the car. Just because writers, or enthusiasts (such as those who spend time on auto message boards) see the glass as half full, the reality is that most people who will be in the market for this type of car are neither, and they will likely be delighted by the new Z. Those of us who want a Lincoln that will go toe to toe with the big boys will be disappointed, but we're not really the target market, and that doesn't make this a bad entry level luxury car.
I was hoping for better review of the Lincoln drive control. For someone like me.. and I am not alone on this, but current LS owners would LOVE to stay loyal to the brand but they don't offer anything that comes close to the driving dynamics of the LS. I was hoping that the 3.7 AWD with LDC would be great and then I could forgive the transverse mounted engine. Hearing reviews like this disappoints me.

I agree with you. Yet I don't think you're their target market. If you are then all will agree they're doing it wrong. A great FWD platform will at best be comparable to an average RWD. Its unreasonable to expect otherwise.
You need to look at dropping a 3.5eb into your LS!!![]()
