I think that this is an amazing concept, easily the best looking car from Lincoln, and I love the beefy look and beautiful lines. my only concern is that the designs start to look too much like each other. that's one of the reason why I never liked audi, and to some extent BMW and Mercedes, because they have allowed all of their vehicles to take on looks that aren't realy that different from each other. I think that every vehicle should be recognized as a member of the family, but just like my sister, have a different personality, look, and experience. I hope Lincoln keeps their vehicles unique, other than that, full steam ahead!!!

I don't call him old man due to his age I call him that because I just don't like him. And as far as being a great front man he's been great alright he was great at starving Mercury of new products, dismantling and killing the entire brand A brand that was created by Edsel Ford, Henry Ford's only son all while drooling over Lincoln. Yeah he has been really great the way I see it.

???? He's a pretty youthful 65! He's been a great front man, cheerleader and organizer for FoMoCo.
    ALL^ exactly, precisely correct
and the re-organization has been undeniably (imho) invaluable for Fomoco!
    BUT
    imho there have been a couple things that show he was from outside the auto industry that weren't necessarily to anyone's benefit;
beside the awkward (imho) renaming of the 500 to Taurus,
(& not preventing the initial MARK/Mk/MucK fiasco with Lincoln's nomenclature),
my understanding is that the survival of Lincoln OR** Mercury was handled something like what I heard about picking a style-theme for Ford cars
    where
when it came down to the USA "Dave"/bold and the Euro-Kinetic, Mr.M. basically said: "Pick one"

while I can see benefit in ONE-FORD-design
imho a BRAND is an OPPORTUNITY
(even for one with less history, lineage, & MAGIC (imho) than Mercury)
(Mr. Farley's "magicians" are MERCURY customers, not Lincoln's...imho)
    &
imho a Plan could have been developed (I've made several!) that would have kept *MY* beloved nameplate alive with only positive results...

...of course, I'll never give up fighting for THE RETURN in 2020!!!

** I've read that at first Mr. M. wanted BOTH Mercury and Lincoln killed:

It’s not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear. Dreams take over. Yet wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. MERCURY. It's inevitable.

    welcome to the forum, wtdavidre23
    &
just-imho there's a strong chance that Max & Team have a very differentiated design plan for Lincoln (I could easily be imagining this but)
I could see one look for Cuvs, so the MKX & maybe Navi could resemble the MKC
BUT a different style theme for sedans
((AND! something else yet for the RWD LincStang & Continental
that I'm *convinced* are coming in a few years))
    tho all would be 'compatible'

At $3K above, I'd be wondering how much the new MKX would be. Potentially north of $60K for a fully loaded one...
something else (really 2) that will decide starting price is
    -- ENGINE: can a base C "get-away-with" a smaller one than the Z? &... Nano?
-- will the Z move up a $ko$h? iirc when Z pricing was being announced, I for one expected a Bump higher

I'd hope for the 2.0 Eco to be standard on the MKC, and a 2.3/2.7/2.9 optional.

I had to smile a bit when I read your post because I had to think of an opinion I read somewhere not too long ago that there was no clear "design-line" in Lincoln's line-up and how bad that was. As example, they mentioned the different grilles of the current vehicles.

While I do unterstand both opinions, it shows that there is no "right" or "wrong" way to please both sides.

Engine: Hopefully, they will throw in the Nano. Increases my chances for a stronger engine for my MY15 MKZ. Hmmm, of course, if the MKC turns out to be THAT great (unique features, interior/leather quality etc.) and close to the MKZ's pricing, it might be an option as well (I'm in charge of dedicating vehicles in our family so I could get the MKC for my Mum and get myself something else. By then, the new Caddy CTS will be out and the updated Jeep GC is sharp, too..).

Pricing: This is really competitive on the MKZ right now. All features (OK, standard- instead of pano-roof but AWD V6) for an MSRP below $50K is quite good. I'm wondering how much Lincoln is going to charge for a "bespoke" interior-upgrade once and if it (finally) becomes available. The current interior quality, IMO, is the MKZ's weakest link. A plastic dash simply doesn't cut it in this class. So the current MSRP would certainly leave some room for these upgrades. Considering the current MSRP, I'd happily pay an additional $2-3K to get extended leather, trim and suede headliner (like the one in my favorite video). BTW, looking at the Grand Cherokee I just mentioned:

Chrysler/Jeep is able to offer a V8 4x4 SUV with leather dash, suede headliner, 19-speaker harman/kardon sound system, two rear screens with Blu-Ray player, Pano-Roof, 20" wheels and much, much more for an MSRP of about $56K - so I don't think asking for a bespoke-equipped MKZ for $53K would be too much.

I agree with you Timmm55 - I think the MKC will also have a no charge hybrid.

You are extremely bitter. I understand that Ford shuttered your favorite brand, but to hate the man who came in and finally relegated the fiefdoms to second class status, while totally restructuring Ford into a powerhouse once again, is a tad short sighted.

The way you talk, it would have been better if FMC had simply ceased to exist also, as it would serve them right for killing Mercury.

Frankly, it is akin to something my 10-year-old would say.

Mulally is the best thing that every happened to FMC (in recent decades). He is the everyman outsider who was able to look at the company through clear, instead of rose colored glasses. He treats everyone with respect, and gives credit to everyone in the organization for their success. He has infectious enthusiasm that carries through the entire organization. Is he perfect, no, but he is as close as you will get, in an automotive CEO. Just think, Ford could have someone like "Coke Can Dan," who likes to throw everyone under the bus, and has everyone in management terrified to make a decision, because if it doesn't pan out the way he wants it to, you are fired. Great working environment there.
