2014 Lincoln MKC Spy Photos
The MKC crossover concept makes the jump to reality—and may lose some of its charm.

What It Is: A camouflaged prototype of Lincoln’s upcoming MKC compact crossover, which will be based on the latest Ford Escape. The MKC was previewed at this year’s Detroit auto show by an eponymous concept that seemed nearly production-ready.

Why It Matters: The Lincoln brand is still struggling, and it hasn’t helped that the mainstream Ford brand has launched a wave of attractive, competitive products like the Fusion, Focus, and Escape at affordable prices. Liberally optioned, the Blue Oval’s recent offerings serve up pretty much the same luxury features available in Lincolns. As Ford’s luxury brand, Lincoln needs to begin setting its wares apart in ways beyond loading up its cars with tech and features borrowed from the mothership.

One way to do this is to employ unique styling for its Ford-based offerings—we think the company is making steady progress in this regard—and the other is to introduce more new Lincolns. Currently, none of the brand’s offerings—the new mid-size MKZ sedan, the not-so-new MKX crossover, the out-of-mind MKS sedan, the three-row MKT crossover, and the nearly irrelevant Navigator SUV—offer Lincoln much hope of attracting new and younger buyers. The MKC could change that.
overall the shape of the suv looks like the current mkx

well the X-1 is so cramped inside I can't "sit-behind-myself"
tho the smaller on the OUTside Buick Encore was just FINE thankyou

The Euro method is just a better way of summing size sometimes.

Re: spy photos mkC

Either they changed alot from the concept...or that is rather the next MkX. Im leaning to the latter.

It much more upright, like the current MkX. Also, the swoop upward on the front fender is there, which the current MkX has but the MkC concept didnt have.
It's the MKC. It just looks more upright because the padding on the rear is to hide it's sloping profile. The MKX is a much larger vehicle. The rear is also missing the integrated exhaust, but that's due to the tow hitch necessary for testing. We can also see the sharp creases on the sides front and back like the concept.

More spy shots from Car and Driver....
Looks too short to be an MKX, I think its the upcoming MKC.

Proportions seem close to the new Escape/Kuga.

For comparison, the 2013 Ford Escape
it´s kind of weird....it looks like a escape size but I´ve listen it is the mkx.........I only hope the mkc and mkx have the mkc concept headlights (looks like the cls headlights or the new mdx-rlx headlights)

sometimes I like the idea of 2 neighboring-size Cuvs being basically the same (sausage) just different lengths
- like a "Mariner5" & "Mariner7", 2-row & 3-row respectively
or
- like a new Aviator being a shorter-sportier version of the Navigator even
but
not for the C & X...
...hope they don't look all THAT much alike
agree with you 2b2....lincoln needs to differentiate its models
