I really like that the Edge looks more rugged and beefier this time, more like a classic/modern SUV like a Grand Cherokee.

a Question
...esp for those who like this...
& sorta prompted by some thoughts in the F-100 thread
WHAT IF
they used some/all of this new style for a number of same-sausage-different-lengths CD4/CD4+3/CD4++ Cuvs
from Edge to Explorer to Flex and even/maybe a 'compact' 'pickup'?
personally so far I like styling of the Edge and Flex, originals + MCE's, much more than the Explorer (really Really liked the ExplorerAmerica concept)
so think I'm not the one to say...

I'm sure the next Explorer will be inspired by what the Edge is doing, I personally don't like the current Explorer front-end. In many ways, the Edge fascia here looks better suited to the Explorer than the Edge. The Escape might be treated differently when it gets its MCE probably by MY 2016.
As for other vehicles, the Flex will be discontinued probably with the 2016 MY, around the time the next-gen Explorer launches. There are rumors about a US-designed Ford minivan, but we also have the next-gen Edge/S-Max/Galaxy options on the table by that time. Somehow I doubt Ford will issue a dedicated NA minivan at this point, but if they do it will be a break for the Global-think permeating all new Ford products.
I prefer the Explorer design to the Edge, Flex, and Escape. Saying that, the front end could be improved by a few grill options. Honestly though, I think they should look elsewhere than the Edge...current or future.
I would prefer they use the next generation F-150 as inspiration, and give the customer a wide choice of grills as well.
The early bird gets the worm..but the second mouse gets the cheese.
Not sure why the Flex is still a Ford product. It should be modified and turned into a Lincoln sedan and crossover.
Buy American!
Buy Ford!
So say we all...
It looks like a Sequioa for me. :)
I just hope the new Edge has been on a serious weight loss program, say at least 500 lbs.
