Fords recent Fleet Bulletin announcing that MY 2013 Ford C-MAX`s will now have a JOB 1 END DATE of 12/01/2013. MY 2014 C-MAX JOB 1 production date starts when? Late Dec or early Jan, 2014? Vehicles won`t arrive until early Spring of 2014, Mar/Apr. Will it be a very short MY 2014 run with and early MY2015 Launch or will Ford just skip MY 2014 for C-MAX and have an early launch for MY 2015? Just wondering......

What's the date of that recent Fleet Bulletin? DONLIN has an update as of 4/29 with a 2014 Production Start Date of 7/8/13(same as the 2014 Focus), with initial orders being accepted on 5/13(same as Focus).
Last month on Blue Oval News it was reported that in mid April Ford announced in their Fleet Buyers Bulletin that 2013 MY C-MAX will now have a JOB End Date of 12/01/2013. Order Bulletins for MY 2014 (or) MY 2015 C-MAX will probably not be available until Oct 1, Order Bank Scheduling probably Nov 1, and perhaps a JOB 1 Date of sometime in early Dec. That puts MY 2014 C-MAX`s at Dealerships in early Spring of 2014. It will be either a (very) short MY Production Run or an early Launch of MY 2015 IMO. Otherwise, if MY 2013 lasts 18 months and MY 2014 goes the same, perhaps they will skip MY 2015 and Launch an early MY 2016?

The most recent updates on DONLIN, updated on 4/29, seems to contradict what was posted on Blue Oval News about a report mid April.

Yeah, I found the Hertz "DONLEN" site yesterday and saw the 04/29/2013 update. Notice the disclaimer..."Subject to change"? Also Order Scheduling Bank and JOB 1 Date .."TBD"? Order Guides probably coming in Sept and JOB 1 for MY 2014 (maybe) sometime in Dec. Mar or Apr (Spring) 2014 arrival at Dealerships. Its either going to be a (very) short MY 2014 run or another extended 16 month run for MY 2014 with an early launch of MY 2016 and no MY 2015.

Interesting....

When you think about it, deliveries of the current 2013 C-MAX did not start until Sept 2012. There are currently only 8 months of C-MAX Hybrid and 7 months of C-MAX Energi sales for the US and Canada. So running the 2013 model until the end of 2013 is not a bad idea.

And I m sure Ford does not want any production slow downs relating to model year change over, to impact overall 2013 sales numbers of the C-MAX Hybrid/Energi. It may be a good idea to keep the line moving until the end of year. C-MAX Hybrid was only 188 units short of outselling the Prius plug-in for April, with no incentives. And C-MAX Hybrid outsells the Prius v YTD by 1,388 units.

All that makes sense but somewhere along the line, the realities of the Calendar Year and the Model Year have to recalculate. As I see it, Ford has but 3 choices. A very short abbreviated MY2014 production run with an early launch of MY 2015 (or) an extended MY 2014 production run skipping MY 2015 altogether with a early launch of MY 2016. Once you go too far over in a MY overlap, something has to give. Would you like to purchase a new Vehicle with a 6 months or less MY before the next years Model was released? Toyota did that a few years ago before it launched its totally updated Camry leaving the previous Model Year owners with a full years depreciation after a half year of ownership (or less) depending on when they took delivery of their shortened Model Year production run. Cars depreciate far too quickly to be caught blind sighted by such a move. If the C-MAX picture doesn`t become clear by early Fall, I`ll simply look for a deal on a used MY 2013 C-MAX and enjoy the depreciated savings, period. Easier to shrug your shoulders with a 3K savings buying (used) then have buyers remorse on a shortened MY production run, IMO.

I don't see Ford skipping a model year with the C-MAX, there will be a 2014 and 2015. The current model launched in Europe at 2010, while NA got the refreshed model as the hybrid/energi two years later in 2012. Which means that for 2014 Europe gets the same refresh NA currently has, while 2015 brings a new body style to NA, which goes to Europe for 2017.

Either way, I would just lease the current C-MAX and not worry about model year depreciation. Then buy the new model when your lease ends at 2015/2016.
