s'funny, that review sounded like it was 'trying' to be nice
but it felt like they were just saving the nasty for later...
...am I too paranoid?

here's a Free Press review by Mark Phelan
don't remember if it's been posted on FiN before
but
after reading comments on other forums,
*I* would want to write a Z review without referencing or even having driven the Fusion
(which *I* haven't)
but the pro writers don't have that optionsince they HAD TO review the Fusion when IT came out...
It’s not a journey. Every journey ends, but we go on. The world turns and we turn with it. Plans disappear. Dreams take over. Yet wherever I go, there you are. My luck, my fate, my fortune. MERCURY. It's inevitable.

You weren't being paranoid, you can safely expect them to trash it despite the comparative lack of choices the Lexus ES offers.
I've had a chance to drive the MKZ hybrid, and I came away fairly well impressed. On a drive that somewhat resembled my work commute, I averaged nearly 40 miles per gallon. I found it somehow very relaxing to drive. However, that I am seriously considering going from the G8 to this has implications that worry me...

I think they like the car
I'm pleasantly surprised that Consumer Reports didn't trash the car the first chance they got. I've lost faith in their reviews as of late. Maybe I've been to harsh on CR - time will tell - if this reporter doesn't loose his job over this review then maybe there's hope for them.
WHAT??????????? Consumer Report actually like a Ford ( ok, a Lincoln) product?????? That is incredible! The end of the world is rigth here!!!!

I like the fact that when they talked about the rear seating, the guy is sitting in the middle "hump" seat... not a very accurate position since most middle seats have very little headroom. I wonder how much space it would've shown had he sat directly behind the driver or passenger front seat.... hmmm. ;-) I still thought that it was a fairly unbiased review of the car overall, for a first drive. He even mentions that for the average car buyer, that it's really good for everyday luxury driving (paraphrasing of course but, that's the general consensus).
