“Almost Heaven, West Virginia” was where FIN was invited to drive the new 2015 F-Series Super Duty and Ford Expedition. The scenery and serenity beautifully mixed with the beast-like nature of the vehicles tested. Also, with steep grade hill climbs and switchback narrow country roads, it turned out to be the perfect place to test the capabilities of the refreshed truck and SUV.

Super Duty

Although it does not appear to have changed at all for the 2015 model year, the most important part of the F-Series Super Duty has: the volume selling Scorpion 6.7-liter Diesel V-8 Powerstroke engine. The engine is now rated at a mind-blowing 440 horsepower and 860 foot-pounds of torque. We had the privilege to both drive and be driven in the Super Duty in different weight classes and different tow weight hauls.

One of the key improvements to the engine was the replacement of the turbocharger from the GT32 to the GT37... [Read More]

Even on the back of June records for both the Fusion and Transit Connect, Ford sales fell 5.8 percent in June mostly due to the 11.0 percent drop from F-Series. This was to be expected with the F-150 switchover taking as much as 70,000 units off storeroom floors in the next few months.

The Focus saw a rebound month as sales climbed 13.1 percent. The Expedition is faring well ahead of the facelift's launch with a 43. 9 percent climb.

The biggest drop off was seen by the Fiesta, whose sales fell 31.1 percent.

In product news, the all-new Ford Transit launched with a total of 490 units sold. Last month's debut, the Lincoln MkC, saw 684 units as the rollout continues its slower path.

Jun 24, 2014 - 3:36 PM - by ausrutherford
Edge will debut in Europe next year

"Bold Moves"? The "I like to live on the Edge" campaign? Remember those tag lines? Ford used those lines to win over the two row midsize market back in 2007 when the first generation Edge debuted. Eight years after our eyes peered onto that brand-changing vehicle, Ford has debuted the second generation Edge today. The goal of the first Edge was to take over the streets of the North America. The goal this time? The World.

Back in November, the Edge Concept was shown in Los Angles and in Barcelona to show the future styling and possible features of the 2015 model. If you take a look at the vehicle, not much has changed from the concept.

Exterior

The exterior styling mimics that of the concept at basically every point. The grill keeps the North American friendly bigger bar design. The headlights look to be there same shape as the concept, although with different light fixtures. Even the running lights made it into production.

The side profile keeps the uplift in the rear window. Compared with the the current model, the side panels look fresher with a sporty style line near the bottom of the doors.

The rear keeps the... [Read More]

New Ford Van Ticket to Innovation for Corporations

By: Nick Saporito

KANSAS CITY, MO The full-size van may not be one of the sexiest vehicle segments on the market but it is undoubtedly a staple in North America. Used by everyone from telecom technicians to plumbers, these vehicles are workhorses that prop up the mobility of a large swath of the American economy. Despite their importance, segment innovation has been stifled, with stalwarts such as the Chevrolet Express and Fords own E-Series soldiering on with outdated engine offerings and a general lack of new configurations.

Ford hopes to disrupt the complacency of the commercial van market by launching the all-new Transit in North America. To the American tongue, the Transit name is new, however the moniker is anything but for Ford on a global basis. The transit has been on sale for 49 years in countries around the globe, such as Europe, where commercial vans are considerably more popular.

The move advances a Ford corporate strategy mantra that is familiar to anyone in automotive: One Ford. It is the companys internal mission to standardize the organization around the globe to achieve greater... [Read More]
