GMs new 1.0l Ecotec engine is the answer to Ford tiny 1.0l EB

GM's brand new Ecotec engine promises superior fuel economy and smoother running than any three-cylinder on the market today. It's just like the V8 wars of yesteryear, only much much smaller.

Debuting in the Opel/Vauxhall Adam, the new GM three-cylinder produces 90 or 115 horsepower depending on the tune, while torque is 122 ft.lb from 1,800 rpm to 4,700 rpm. The engine is mated to a new lightweight six-speed manual to complete the package.

GM's Geo Metro featured a 1.0 liter 3 cylinder many years ago, and far precedes Ford's 1.0.

I miss my old Geo Metro, with it's noisy underpowered I3. Pretty sure that was a Suzuki developed engine btw. It ran like crap anyway. I think Ford may have been first to actually apply some premium engineering to an I3 anyway.
