VW sales are very marginal in USA. They cant enter this market, despite having first quality products. The products destined exclusively to this market have had a relative succes. The Passat sold arround 3000 units last month, and the Explorer-sized Atlas sold arround 4000 units, compared with Explorer sales of 18000 units.

This is a scketch of the upcoming new 2 row seats SUV:

I love it when people say that Ford can't do this or VW can't do that.

Can't is a tails-between-the-legs excuse for won't.

Don't know how is a challenge, a reason to try and try again.

Which camp is Ford in? Which camp is VW in?

Re: VW takes on Ford with more investment in SUV

Why does nobody acknowledge that this is aimed for the Edge? Why is the most expensive and exclusive competitor the analogue? It's just annoying to me that Edge isn't noticed more since it's still fairly alone in the market and now suddenly everybody wants a piece after Ford has been there for 12 years.

Anyway, VW's biggest problem in the US has always been that it thinks one-size fits all which was never the case for cars in the US. But Crossovers are another thing, they are more profitable and universal. So Crossovers will probably be VW's way back to relevance here. Atlas is certainly an outstanding effort.
