He didn't say anything about power folding, he said fold flat. With the solid axle underneath that 3rd row there was no room to fold the 3rd row into the floor, so they would fold down, but still kept it from being one long, flat loading floor.

GM outsold Ford by a huge margin IRS or not. The reality is until this new generation GM didn't need IRS because the Ford SUVs were so outdated that their IRS related advantages were moot. Ford finally raised the bar, a long ways at that, now GM has to answer.

This really isn't much different than the Camaro/Mustang IRS debate. Ford didn't need to add the cost and weight to the Mustang until GM raised the bar, only then did Ford move. Competition is awesome!

Yup.
Although some have criticized Mustang for skipping a development cycle with IRS, it was Mustang who was first with IRS with Cobra. Yeah, I guess they made a development decision, factoring in certain customer preference for solid axle for track hard use. It was not just the bottom line, contrary to opinions. Cobra Jet Mustangs have been solid axle for years, and for good reasons.

As for GM's deferral of adding IRS to a product with massive profit margins and volumes and thus easy to justify the expense......meh, they had far more time to update than one cycle and absolutely zero justification, unlike Ford which had one.

If Ford can catch endless **** for Mustang no IRS, and clearly many around here have done that, then I won't bat an eye for simply bringing up GM.
glyphics likes this.

With the possibility of a Twin-Turbo V8 in the Caddy (500-550hp) - wonder what Lincoln's response will be...if any.

Lincoln's response will be hybridization, of course. Not unlike the Aviator 600ftlb boost, which will actually be far more efficient than just a big powerful ICE. Another benefit will be quiet thrust.

Lincoln is on a roll right now...even getting praise from the (historically harsh on Lincoln) Media!
