Fisker EMotion 400-mile electric sedan to debut August 17
MotorAuthority
- Viknesh Vijayenthiran - Apr 25, 2017

Revived electric car brand Fisker has released some new teasers for its upcoming EMotion and confirmed the electric sedan for an August 17, 2017 debut.

The date is smack in the middle of Monterey Car Week suggesting Fisker might use the Californian event as the backdrop for the EMotion’s debut...

...Another key to the industry-leading range will be graphene battery technology. The battery is being developed by a Fisker subsidiary with help from researchers at UCLA. Beyond the 400-plus-mile range, the only other performance figure announced by Fisker is a top speed of 161 mph.

Fisker says the EMotion will also be fitted with all the hardware necessary for full self-driving capability. The self-driving software to run the hardware is being developed by a partner that Fisker will announce soon.

Fisker has stated that the EMotion will be priced competitively with high-end Model S variants. This means we can expect a starting price in excess of $100K. If successful, Fisker hopes to launch a second, more affordable model targeting the Chevrolet Bolt EV as well as the Model 3 which is due to be revealed just one month prior to the EMotion.

Teaser of the new Z4
BMWblog.com
| Z4 News | July 28th, 2017 by Nico DeMattia

As the release of the next-generation BMW Z4 looms closer, weíre starting to see more and more of it. The Z4 has been caught doing quite a bit of testing all over the world, so weíve seen a lot of it wearing camouflage. There have also been quite a lot of renders surfacing, giving us an idea of what it might look like. However, a new teaser has come directly from BMW, teasing something that will be shown off at Pebble Beach.

In this new Instagram post by BMW, we see a silhouette of what is clearly a two-seat roaster. Now, BMW hasnít explicitly said that this is a BMW Z4, though some context gives it away. For starters, it has a classic BMW Z recipe. Itís a two-seat roadster, short rear deck, long hood, pointy nose and low stance. It almost looks like the original BMW Z1 a bit. Then, BMW claims that weíll ďFind out whatís happening at Pebble Beach on August 17thĒ.

Considering the fact that we know BMW will be showing off the Z4 at Pebble Beach, thatís the bit that gave it away. Though, this silhouette seems quite a bit different from what weíve seen of the Z4 in spy photos. The front end is much sharper and the whole car is lower and sleeker. So weíre assuming what we see at Pebble will be some sort of BMW Z4 Concept car. While itís a bit disappointing that it will only be a concept, considering the tester thatís been caught wearing camouflage seems to be near production ready, itís better than nothing.

The next-gen BMW Z4 will be built on a sports car chassis co-designed by both BMW and Toyota. It will be a mechanical sibling to the upcoming Toyota Supra, which excites many fans. Whatís known for sure so far is that it will be rear-wheel drive as-standard, will come in four-cylinder and six-cylinder variants and will regain its soft-top roof, rather than the folding hard-top of the current car. It will also be lighter, faster and sharper than the car it replaces.

Weíre very excited to see the new BMW Z4. So stay tuned for August when we finally get to see the concept at Pebble Beach.

The dealerships have been throwing 100-Year anniversary celebrations at their stores (I ran into one a few weeks ago), but Lincoln has otherwise been completely silent.

That's because typically Ford doesn't like to celebrate the 1917 date and only the 1922 date when they bought Lincoln from the Lelands. I guess the feud still runs deep between the Fords and Lelands.
