Just yesterday, Lucid Motors unveiled its first EV aptly dubbed the Air and incorporating a slew of impressive technologies in an even more impressive design.

Although select members of the press have only been able to experience pre-production prototypes, the Air has everything going for it, including a set of rather cool headlights...

Lucid Air Will Start At $60,000, But Launch Edition Rolls In At Over $100,000
insideEVs.com

The cost of the Lucid Air is going to be less than we expected. A lot less. In fact, Lucid Motors has published what feels like an entire dossier about the price and options in the Air because of what it says has been a bit of, “confusion regarding the price range.” Here are the details.

The Air that we’ve all been seeing and using to gauge how much the Air will cost is a “well-optioned Lucid Air,” the company said in a new blog post, which has lead to said confusion. The final price of the top-of-the-line model will be, “above $100,000,” but Lucid Motors now says that the base model electric vehicle will start at $60,000 ($52,500 after the $7,5000 federal tax credit) and yet have, “superior comfort, a better user interface, and better performance than comparably priced BMWs and Mercedes-Benzes.”

For your $60,000, you will get a car with a 240-mile range, 400 horsepower delivered from the rear wheels, and, “all hardware necessary for autonomous driving.” Perhaps the software will cost extra? This is uncertain, but like Tesla, Lucid will offer over-the-air updates to its vehicles. Some of the options you will be able to choose include bigger batteries (to push the car to 315- or 400-mile ranges), an AWD, two-motor powertrain with 1,000 hp, and a glass canopy roof. Oh, and 29 speakers (up from 10 in the base model), if you really, really want to hear your compressed digital music files blaring from every corner of your EV.

The first Airs that will sold will be the Launch Edition trim, which will have the 315-mile pack and 1,000 hp, among other benefits. Getting your hands on one of the 255 Launch Edition vehicles will require a $25,000 deposit not, while being willing to accept car #256 or later needs just $2,500 now. You can reserve a car here and read more about the Air and its options here. Lucid isn’t saying quite yet when the first Airs will be available, but 2019 is the timeline we’ve heard before.

Here’s a list of what comes with the base model:

~60k for this kind of a car is a pretty sweet deal!
It's too large for my tastes, but it all bodes well for the future. Now hopefully no one actually goes and kills the electric car again.

60k vs 160k is massive and a step I the right direction specially if they want to compete with Tesla

Over the air software updates is a good thing to have I imagine it ties in with your cell carrier or you can connect to your wifi from your driveway or garage.

I am curious to see how it will play out though we will see.

Re: LUCID(formerly known as Atieva)

The game as we know it has changed, and Lucid brings a desirability lacking in the current Tesla products. Time waits for no one, and Tesla needs to make absolutely sure that they do not miss one upcoming deadline in the rush to bring the Model 3 to the market.

Why is this more desirable than a Tesla?

Bottom line is, I'll believe it when I see it from this brand.

2009 Ford Flex Limited w/ AWD
Light Ice Blue/White Suede Roof | Med. Lt. Stone Interior | Vista Roof
2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible

One brief foray inside even a top level Model S will easily illuminate you as to why this far more expressively designed car is more desirable than a Tesla.
