Tesla Model S - Your thoughts?

Just wondering what everyone thinks of the Tesla Model S. I actually really love the concept & styling, but have concerns about how much it's finally going to cost when it hits showrooms, or for that matter, if Tesla survives long enough for it to even make it to the showroom!

all electric >> NetCarShow LINK

but
the anticipated base price of the Tesla Model S is $49,900 after a federal tax credit of $7,500
is way beyond even my theoretical limit
so
guess I'll vote
[x] Sure, while we're in the fantasy realm

(it's also at 196" ovl, a good bit bigger than I'd want)

EDIT
read a bit more of NetCarShow's verbiage & found:
Tesla Model S powertrain includes a liquid-cooled 9-inch motor, floor-mounted battery pack and a single-speed gearbox

.

Re: Tesla Model S - Your thoughts?

I love the style kinda like an Aston Martin, cant afford a new one but in 4 years maybe a used one. The more I think about it I dont think I can use it. I live in the sticks and work is 50 miles round trip. I don't think I would have any use since everything is so far away but if I lived in a town and everything was close to home I would love to have an electric car

50000$ for a new car with a new technology, from a new car company with zero experience????? No, thanks. A sexy car, but i prefer to buy an Audi A6 or a loaded Ford Taurus Ecoboost
