Lincoln Mark Series to Return

Today on Autoline Daily:
Quote:
No doubt most of you remember the Lincoln Mark series that started with the Mark I in 1948, all the way to the last Mark VIII made in 1998. Well it sure looks like the Lincoln Motor Company is getting ready to revive that lineup with an all new Mark IX. According to Auto Forecast Solutions LLC, a Lincoln Mark IX is slated to be built at Ford’s Flat Rock assembly plant in January, 2022. From the sound of it, it will be a low-volume niche product that could be a coupe or convertible. Of course, 2022 is seven years away and a lot could change between now and then. But as of right now, a Mark IX is part of Lincoln’s product plan.
Copying and pasting from the LLSOC. I haven't seen this yet personally but 7 years away?? Yeesh!

Talk about the distant future! What could possibly take that long? It's not the Space Shuttle fercryinoutloud.

Re: Lincoln Mark IX to Return

what a PERFECT story to replace that advertisement as the top of our frontpage
&
imho
2022 is total bamboozlement!! I expect this MARK to be out within a year of the D6CD6 Conti - at most
&
of course
WHAT I WANT TO KNOW is WILL THEY OR WON'T THEY
do SOMEthing with the current D3/4 MKS to keep that slot (between Z & Conti) warm until the REAL Intro date???

Re: Lincoln Mark IX to Return

I have to say I have been heavily critical of Lincoln the past few years and no I am not sorry for that, they deserved every bit of it considering where they were and how far they have fallen. But I will say this... NOW it is starting to become really exciting to be a Lincoln fan again. I haven't felt this excited about the brand in a really long time probably since the debut of the LS and the sweet concepts of the early 2000s.

Another thing to note is this. 2017 is 100 years of Lincoln and 2022 is 100 years of Ford buying Lincoln.

Re: Lincoln Mark IX to Return

I am starting to see where they are headed with the design language of their cars. I like it a LOT. The "sheeted" car could be a 2-door Continental for all we know.

Re: Lincoln Mark IX to Return

Yeah, well...I'll believe it when I see it. 2022 is typically beyond their product planning cycle so much has to happen in-between which is mysteriously not mentioned at all. I do think by this time frame Lincoln will be on its own and not shadowing Ford step for step.
