2018 Lincoln Continental Coupe Rendering Makes Some Sense

If there's one thing you can count on in the luxury car segment, is that customers with deep pockets will consider a two door version of whatever flagship saloon is trending out there.

There are plenty of historical precedents for this. The new S-Class Coupe is a clear reflection of the older CL-Class models, while Bentley's Continental GT needs no introduction. Then there's Rolls-Royce, arguably the ultimate luxury car manufacturer.

This is where Lincoln comes into play because with their all-new Continental, shaving off a couple of doors doesn't look like the most difficult thing in the world, does it?

^.......it needs the giant sunroof from the MKZ that overlaps the back window.

A Continental Coupe looks much better than this.....

Re: Lincoln Continental NAIAS

I like it, a lot! Have to think it would be an inexpensive addition to the Lincoln lineup. The big question is what kind of market is there for such a car? I would think the demand would not be strong, but wonder if the expense could still be justified in terms of it's effect upon brand perception?

The biggest single expense would be that the sedan isn't engineered for that pillarless coupe so doing so would require significant reinforcement with the cheaper and more likely option being a "hidden" pillar similar to the Mustang.

Love that rendering, but why does it need conventional door handles all of the sudden?

Re: Lincoln Continental NAIAS

Is a great rendering. I love the Theophilus Chin`s work, but in this case he commited a big mistake: change the almost hidden door handles for a common and traditional ones. The car looks completly different with this change, the sides lost its clean and pure surfaces . A big mistake....

Is a big coupe a need for Lincoln? I think yes. Sometime Lincoln will need to revive the Mark coupe series. Is a need for a luxury brand to have a luxury coupe. But, first Lincoln need to restablish itself as a true luxury brand, and, in these times, the crossovers are priority.

Yeah, that's a pretty stupid oversight/decision by whoever did that chop. Otherwise, I love it.

Re: Lincoln Continental NAIAS

This image has me thing of something....

Would it work if Lincoln filled in the entire grille space with actual grille(notice the lower section of the grill space is body color) for SUVs, while the cars kept the smaller version.

And yes, the door handles need to be moved up along the chrome trim to clean up the side.
