Yeah, the proportions do seem a bit off. It seems like they used extra wide doors, which throws of the proportions.

Re: Lincoln Continental concept

Any chance the Continental took a bit of inspiration from the Bentley Flying Spur?

The small gap between the front doors and front wheels is an easy give away that it's FWD-based, but it's a nice looking FWD-based car.

PS: New Mazdas and Volvos fall under the "not ordinary FWD proportions" category.

Re: Lincoln Continental concept

They've aimed higher than I thought they would with this. Makes the Cadillacs look like Daewoos.

Looking at the side view it appears to be an eat-west platform, but they've done a great job in hiding that by giving the rest of the vehicle a purposeful silhouette, masculine shoulder line and proportions of a RWD vehicle. Very balanced overall.

I'm impressed. Very impressed. It may not have an 8, which I think it should, but, so far the initial impression is they've hit a home run. The first Lincoln I've liked since the old stuff.

Maybe they shouldn't water down the production vehicle too much. Push that price point up, raise the standard. MKZ should lift it's game to fill that gap. Can't stand still.

If this "concept" replaces the MKS (does it?) then the real car surely will disappoint.
As it is IMO this concept looks to be a $200,000 type vehicle aka the types of materials, technology etc etc.
Unless of course there still will be a MKS to fit between the MKZ and this Concept Flagship.

I've said the S(wic) should rise $10k to $50k base and my idea of a Conti (D6/CD6) should go up another $10k to $60k minimum
so
THIS ^ along with the platform question are my quandaries

I disagree
to ME, the Conti looks like it has MORE room between the wheelwell & door than the Mazda

wondering about making a '''Design Analysis''' thread (for those of us who might want to nitpick a bit)

I wonder TOO - not at all sure UNLESS Max's genius has an even broader range than I imagined
BUT
just-imho if Max worked on the Conti it had to be WITH someone else - there's just a different '''flavor'''
not complaining or mean to be disparaging at all

The grille is growing on me, at first it looked a little too derivative, flat, anonymous.

It's probably safe to assume MKZ will feature some form of this grille in the update. Looks like Lincoln will never have a uniform showroom, LOL. Which is fine...
, it's a brand that I'm sure will go through many more design transitions.
Which is fine... with ME
*IF* it's INTENTIONAL *and* LOGICAL
