2020 Cadillac CT5

Cadillac just debuted the new CT5 and it looks way better than the CTS/ATS it replaces, although at the same time not quite as nice as I expected. More to come at NY auto show. https://www.motor1.com/news/313837/2...-ct5-revealed/

Re: 2020 Cadillac CT5

Overall, it's not bad. The front looks good - the headlights are a bit different (they remind me of the 1st gen Chevy Cruze how they "bumped" up into the hood area), but otherwise it's good. The front hasn't been a style problem for Cadillac - it's been from that point back, where the cars have looked like they were done by completely different design teams and put together at the last minute.

In that regard, it's a better effort on the rear here. But WTF is with that massive dead space between the taillights and trunk lid? Maybe it's smaller in person, but it just looks odd.

I don't like the C-pillar at all. Hopefully they at least made the black panel glass or at least gloss black plastic and not a flat/textured plastic, which would kill the look, and definitely give it that cheaper car look/feel.

Current Vehicles:
2009 Ford Flex Limited w/ AWD
Light Ice Blue/White Suede Roof | Med. Lt. Stone Interior | Vista Roof
2018 Ford Mustang GT Convertible
Lightning Blue | Black Top | Black Interior

Re: 2020 Cadillac CT5

This is a remarkably uninspiring design by Cadillac. The front face is recognizable but doesn't project luxury the way a Cadillac should. The side view could be from any car manufacturer and again, does not even whisper luxury. Yes, the C-pillar is a disaster and would have been more appropriate on a Chevy. In profile it's OK, taking the proper RWD stance.

I don't know why Cadillac chose to continue to offer this sedan when it could have offered something truly luxurious. Any number of GM ignored Cadillac sedan concepts would have put Cadillac on the map. This will not.

The C-pillar section reminds me of a Nissan...

Re: 2020 Cadillac CT5

So GM is keeping the sedan going and Ford is killing theirs.

Great face, great ass, snoozer of a profile. I'm sick of everything being a fastback and much prefer the CTS with it's more traditional roofline. They showed very little of the interior, but what they did show looks great!

It'll perform great everywhere but the sales charts unfortunately.

I normally would say that I have to see it in person for final judgment, but in this case, I am pretty sure my opinion will not change.
